Anki Electronic Flashcards
Anki is a free program that works like flashcards -- only better. While it is not specific to learning Spanish, there are some really nice data sets available for learning Spanish.
If you want to go the flashcard route and see electronic as being better than paper, there is really nothing negative about Anki. Here are the high points:
- It's free (and Open Source).
- It runs on lots of platforms including Windoze, Mac, Linux, iPhone, Android and FreeBSD. For those devices without a port (such as a Blackberry), there is an on-line web interface.
- It is easy to use.
- When you answer a question you can categorize it into one of four difficulty levels. This will change how soon you will see the same question again.
- There are lots of free data sets available.
Specifically looking at the Spanish data sets there are some simple ones but also some really difficult (at least for me) ones. For example, there is one for conjugation of irregular verbs in assorted tenses and moods. I also saw some Spanish learning tools in languages other than English.
All the info and the download links are available on the Anki web site. Once you start it up, the search for data sets in built-in.
