Another beautiful Nica

Alan I got the right message, don't worry and thanks re: the wife ! I know fyl is a great guy and non-discriminatory towards the people there in Nicaragua. I saw first-hand how Nicaraguans are treated in Costa Rica on some of my trips. For example, some friends in Costa Rica like to hire Nicaraguans because they don't complain much, are willing to work 6 to 7 days a week,will do labor that nobody else wants and then pay them on a much, much lower than normal scale. There is also a lot of subtle descrimination from Ticos towards Nicaraguans in the form of everyday in-your-face snide and rude comments. Some Ticos also think that Nicaragua itself is ugly compared to their own paradise. I think the Ticos suffer from their overly self-inflated self-image due to the large volume of foreign vistors to their country. I have seen a lot of poor people in Costa Rica also and I am also aware that some crimes there also are not reported in the press. It's not a perfect paradise.

I used to be in "love" with Costa Rica and I still admire it's physical beauty, but now I have learned to appreciate the the people here in Nicaragua as well as the beautiful country itself. I hope this clarifies my comments. I was refering to fyl's young tica friend's comment that "all Nicaraguans are ugly"
