I have a question
about Dale's story: Is the John Wayne who went on his trip OUR LFJW?
IMHO
forget it, with a draft of 4 feet, don't even let anybody talk you into it.
There was a reason the pirates sacked Granada using the long boats...
Lyin' Farmer John Wayne
Correct
That trip was made about 10 years ago before LFJW started all his lyin'.

Depends on the time
This time of year you should have little problems, but in the dry season, you will need a very experienced guide, and even at that you may bump into a few logs, etc. Biggest problem is making it into the river mouth from the Atlantic side
The Rapids at El Castillo
The Rapids at El Castillo might be the worst part. The name “Raudal el Diablo” might tell you something. A boat with a 4 foot draft is quite large. What type of boat is it?
