For starters, I am a happily married guy,lol But a friend was telling me that these signs one sees for auto hotels is a place where you bring your "loved 1" to make out??? They put curtains around ur car, so you can have some privacy. Is this true???

Claro Que Si!

Except she doesn't have to be a "loved one". (You know the story, if it flies, floats or f$&%?...rent it!)

Some are high end, discreet entrance, draped parking and room service through a serving hatch.

102 entries (scuse the pun) for all of Nicaragua in the yellow pages.

If you need more information, you have moved from curious to research!!

You can also just stay in one as a hotel, if you can work out how to sit in that odd looking tubular steel chair and watch TV in the mirror!!

LOL

No further research is required!! I have seen a few signs along Masaya Highway and didn't give them much thought! Thought maybe they washed/cleaned your car!!

Tona??

Not my Tona!!!

A couple years ago when a friend from the USA was visiting we decided to check one out. We had the driver drive in and the guy who directed us to the "room" closed the curtain behind us. We gave him our credit card for an hour rental and went in and were quite surprised at how nice it was... King Size bed, hot water in the shower and a slot in the wall for room service!! ;-) They had a pretty extensive menu from cigarettes to rum and beer to sandwich's. There were condoms on the bed and something that looked like a torture device but upon closer inspection turned out to bed some kind of sex table and there were even instructions with diagrams on how to use it!!

We were ready to check out by the time the guy returned with the CC slip and laughed about what he must be thinking about our 10 minute 3 person room rental.......

The place looked really clean and was about $15/hour or $25/night. I think it would probably be preferable to most any low end "normal" hotel for someone who was actually looking for a place to sleep.

Friends do this regularly

I know a family living in Guatemala that regularly stay in these hotels when they're driving throughout Central America. They hide their 2 kids under a blanket in the back seat when they drive/check in because otherwise things get too confusing with the "front desk" staff, but they say the hotels are solid options: cheap, hyper clean and safe. The first time they resorted to this was because they ended up on the road later than they wanted and it was there only option. Now it's their preference.

I'm almost always on busses so it's never been an option for me, but I'm very curious.

Nice!!

I know know where the In-laws can stay next time!! Once again Nica Living to the rescue!! lol

I think

I stayed in one in Mexico City once by accident. The main difference from a regular hotel was that it had torn sheets....

Me too,

Got lost near Tonalá where they make and wholesale all the Mexican souvenirs and it was getting late.

2 King beds and a 3 roomed, 3 door bathroom (for all three functions) with a shower big enough for 6.

$35 a night, best hotel room we had on the trip.
