Kudos

Thanks for the recommendation for Quinoa! I was at Wholesale Foods few months ago and saw 1 pound bag for $9.00 so I did not bite.
2 weeks ago I saw at the wholesale club 2 pound bag for $3.99 (Pictured above).
I love this stuff and have tried it with many different foods and it goes well with Seafood as well. I think better than rice and I know that is bold statement. When cooked it looks like a small bean sprout (1.5 - 2.0 millimeter) with small tail. The consistency is nothing like rice and has less absorbance while more crunchy. It taste has some whiff of sorghum, oats, and and possible wheat germ as well.
I will save one bag for the man who recommended!
Interesting on reverse of bag-Says "Product of Bolivia and/or Peru-Packed in USA". Never seen that before!

More on Quinoa
While quinoa can be used where rice tends to be used, it is nutritionally very different. As I remember, 22% protein. Thus, while veggies and rice needs something such as soy or meat to give you the needed protein, quinoa doesn't.
When I was trying to find quinoa here I eventually ended up contacting a big organic quinoa company in Bolivia. I figure that with ALBA and all, it should be easy to get. Wrong. They told me that everything they processed went to the US and I should contact a US health food store to get some.
That, of course, makes as much sense as buying a CF light made in China by buying it in a package that says GE from the US. But, until I go to Bolivia and make some quinoa connections, I don't see any alternative.
