Looking for a rental in Leon

My wife and I are currently renting a house for a couple of months in Poneloya. We are thinking about giving Leon a try for 2 to 3 months starting February or March. Does anyone have or know of a furnished 1 or 2 bedroom place for rent. We are going to walk around town and look for rental signs but we have had good luck so far with finding accommodations on this forum.

Many thanks for this info..

rental prices

I live in Poneloya. I was very lucky to find a house directly connected to the beach for 200 dollar a month, but i have a year long rent contract (smart, normally they cant rent the place in winter). Originally this house was 300 dollar a month. We saw another house, or villa with swimmingpool and everything, also 200 dollar a month, but far away into the village (a 20 minute walk from the bussstation, that is why it is 200 dollar). The rest of the houses are around 300 to 500-600 dollar a month. Las Peñitas is even more expensive! Most houses are big, with many rooms and even so many bathrooms and fully furnished.

Note: Water and electricity are very very expensive here in Poneloya, is a private company, different from the city There is no internet , some cyber cafe's that ask 30 cordoba a hour and the hotels, this is because claro doesnt offer internet services at the beach, this is also a private own company wich delivers internet to some cybercafé's wich is horribly expensive! I use a memorystick. Also there is no cable tv from Claro o any other, you need satelite, also more expensive. Most houses have a man or family living in there who take care of the house, you cant put them out, some of the live there for all their lives and you will have trouble with the village people. you need to arrange with the owner who pays these people, you or them. Take care of iron things, computers, cameras jewelery etc, the salty wind comes even into the bedrooms and destoys everything!. Anywone who has guestions can always send me an email. And anyone who would like to stay at the beach for a a day or month, even groups, can contact me, we have a small family hostal.

Saludos desde la playa!

You'll see very few rental signs.

(And they would be on the high priced foreigner-managed places.)

Find an area you like and ask around. Farmacias & pulperias are good places to start and every block seems to have one or more. People know their neighborhoods; little happens that isn't general 'gossip'.

Nicas generally love to talk, and often find gringos very entertaining to listen to (when not mad). So just ask & keep your cool and you'll get to see all sorts of places. (The university students are out of town until mid-January.)
