While WD-40 would probably be replaced with a mallet and duct tape with, um, a mallet here, the concept is good. It represents how complicated problems can be reduced to simple situations.
Here, a machete is clearly #1 in problem solving. While having a shovel and a screwdriver are handy sometimes, a machete makes a good substitute for both. As for hammers, a rock is a good substitute.

I am in the processes of making new coushions for the B and B. Found the foam and that was amazing! I needed something to cut the 4 inch foam, guess what the machete worked just great!
electric knife
An electric carving knife also works well for foam cushions.
