Election Results

At this point, of course, there aren't any. The official word is that the preliminary results will be announced between 9 and 10PM today. The polls close at 7PM but the law says that anyone in line before then must have a chance to vote. Expect spotty results this evening with more complete numbers on Monday.

on the ballots, nothing is can be verified in a recount, if there is such a thing.Ballots are being switched prior with pre filled ballots for D.O. with one signature. This is according to a very high up sandanista in carazo. There will be a request for a recount, but the ballots will reflect D.O. won. But that was already expected/decided.

2006 Election results start on page 283

The fun begins!!

That's funny!! I heard of one poll that closed an hour early AND with many people still in line!!! Just Saying!!!

Polls were scheduled to close at 6pm (not 7pm)

Some closed at 5pm because of public order issues.

Maybe!! I just know this 1

Maybe!! I just know this 1 was to suppose to close an hour later. And I really do not care who wins--as long as it is what the majority wants. I think so far it has been very peaceful. But when they start announcing the #'s that may change.

is anyone..

really in doubt..on who has won the election

Not really

I do, however, think the numbers are important. Five years ago Ortega had 38% of the vote. That's a bigger number than 38% in the US as a larger percentage of voter-age people vote here than in the US but still pretty sucky. There were a lot of people scared of what would happen. While most of them seem to have become unscared (I am specifically talking about the business sector) him getting a much larger number, say 60%, would be a pretty good indication that he has accomplished a lot in the eyes of the voters.

When you compare that to George Bush II who really never won any election but whose numbers dropped like a rock anyway, it would indicate that the government here is at least listening.

Really

There is very little doubt of the outcome, or that the government has been listening and acting in accordance with the wishes the people. Also the Polls here close at 6:00 PM.

Its just a suggestion but...

Comparisons like that will take this thread off topic very quickly.

I second that suggestion

I just love it when we can stay on topic!

hi proffessor..

all the boss mans post are on topic..when u get the chance bad mouth ure country..nica is good,,usa is baddd

Hey acc724...

good to hear from you. I may have been a bit rash with my comment, as I do see the comparison. I really don't think there was any USA bashing going on though. More like a statement that politics and politicians are pretty much the same everywhere.

I'm a Canuck! And I think

I'm a Canuck! And I think Nica is good as well as the USA and Canada! Its the politicians that ruin it,lol As long as the majority is happy---good to go---as long as it was done legally and fair. 1 can't make everyone happy.

Legally and fair

those terms are mutually exclusive with regards to Nica politics!!! i.e. don't exsist!!

Mutually exclusive

seems to apply equally well to politics in any country on this planet.

I think the minimum Baby Steps outcome should be

That the result may cause the opposition parties to realize what they need to do next time. And spend 5 years doing it, not 5 months.
