Esperanza Ponce

This liquor store next to Esperanza Ponce's house. In fact, it may be part of her house with a cafetin on the other side which is part of it.

Ask any Sandinista in Estelí who she is and they will know. While I haven't talked to her in a few years, she has supported herself for the last 30 years by renting rooms in her house to Internationalistas.

I've stayed with her a couple of times.Her house is full of phtos of Che, Sandino and the bunch. It was nice to have the store next door as they kept the Tona's colder than her fridge. I also have n't talked to her in a couple of years. I'll be sure to stop in and visit in December.
