just checking
after cutting the tip, you are sticking a needle/nail down the hole and poking the seal before applying pressure, right?

Ummmmm
I learned something!
Home Depot
When the construction on the casa del infierno began in Boaco, I looked at what they considered "tools". I scouted out our local ferraterias, the big ones in Managua (Sinsa, Lugo, Richardson, more) and decided only one thing to do.
Made a list of what I wanted and flew to Miami and went shopping at Home Depot. Caulking gun was near the top of the list...
Tool Not the Problem
Miskito Alan says that "Izod John" was afraid to cut the plastic tip of the caulk because he might mess up the crocodile on the front of his shirt. ____________________________________________________________________
"Izod John"
Miskito Alan says that you got to cut the plastic tip on the head-end of the caulk and then the caulk goes out the front and not the back.

A nail will do the trick
Keep a heavy duty nail in the tip to keep the caulk from spilling out.
Wish I had the money to fly to Miami to vist Lowe's and Home Depot. I thought I had died and gone to hell when I first stepped into the SJDS hardware store.
Well...
If get the chance to go to Managua you can always go to SINSA and their Homecenters (They're building a new Homecenter on Carretera a Masaya near the Movistar building and another new location by Rotonda Santo Domingo)....or Ferreteria Lugo which is also on Carretera Masaya...both are pretty well stocked...
just ask newbies
Well I am on my way down to SJDS(early Oct) and would be happy to bring down anything from home depot(2 miles from my current residence) that would fit in a large duffel bag. Just ask(and tell me what you need). On a first come basis since I am limited on space of course. As a matter of fact, anything legal that someone needs from Cali I could bring down to SJDS. Cost of your items + handling fee of one cold beer(maybe 2 depending on size).
OH No ...not disposable ?
Well...I am in for reality shock...fur sure..(heh heh). Aren't those tools like..hey...all disposable ? And..don't they all come with a superguy attached ?? Like in the commercials ?? Yeah....I am blonde...sooo ???? I use bubblegum for all repairs...it is the best. Ever tried to get it out of..unstuck from anything ?? ...unatached from anything ? Stuff is super caulk. Hey..labor is cheap..you hire a bunch of kids to chew...go from there. Oh Nicaliving friends...this is the best. Let's write a book ! Willow
Bubble Gum
I think your onto something with the gum. When I was painting the bar area, I found about twelve wads of gum underneath the counter. I had to use a screwdriver and hammer to chisel off the gum!
Another simpler solution
If you have ice, hold against the gum, freeze it, pops right off...
caulk actually IS gum????
john,
I dont think it is. I have been chewing on some caulk for hours now and I still cannot blow any bubbles.
