Bases
The "Periodico" story is pretty brief and seems factually incorrect or perhaps ambiguous. It indicates a "U.S. Base" will be opened on the Bay Islands, and implies the Gracias a Dios base is a future project. However, they already built the Gracias base (Caratasca Lagoon Base), if it can be called that - it only cost $2 million Lempiras, which is about $105,000 USD - much less than the average gringo place on the Bay Islands. And, the Bay Island base, if it comes about, will be a miniature Honduran Naval base specializing in drug trafficking.
Yeah, but
that is not as dramatic as the "let's see if we can read something into a few lines of poor reporting that makes it look like ...OMG...INVASION plans.ZZT
If Bush was still boss, It could be Texas Hole Em'
4 cards on the table; Cocaine, CIA, Honduras and Nicaragua
all waiting for the "River Card".........
Sorry, poor RSJ joke.
Best thing that could happen
Best thing that could happen would be a base there it would possibly cut down on some of the trafficking up and down the atlantic. Any body that thinks it wouldnt just look at the present situation in Mexico! If that happens good by any american support and tourism for all central america.
