Bringing a horse to Nicaragua

I bought a finca near SJdS recently and am considering bringing several of my paint cow horses to Nicaragua from our ranch in Texas. I've ridden the little local criollo horses in Nicaragua, know their prices but I'm interested in crossing my paint horses on some of the Andalucian/Paso Fino types in Nicaragua. I know of one lady in SJdS who supposedly drove a horse trailer down from the U.S. but I'm probably not that adventurous. I've flown horses from Texas to Europe in the past and know the costs but want to know whether anybody already down there has imported horses to Nicaragua before?

Good Horse Info

A friend of mine who does not publish on this site emailed this info concerning horses to me and I thank her for the help. __________

IICA, the Inter American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, would probably be the best source for accurate information. They are located at Km 10 Carretera Masaya, most employees are bilingual, and their website is at http://www.iica.int/prensa/iicaconexion/. My friend, James Johnson, should be of help to you, and if not, he'll tell you who can help. _____________________________________________________________________

Horses in Somoza Times

Miskito Alan says " A plant existed on "El Bluff" out from Bluefields that processed horses for food for human consumption and was exported to various foreign countries.

"El Bluff" was also the last stop from "Kukra Hill" for "John's" underwater boat service.

I think that the two enterprises are no longer in operation. ___________________________________________________________________

Estimado Sr. Perez,

Horses in Nicaragua

It's very illuminating to observe that the most popular topic these past 2 weeks has been about bringing horses to Nicaragua. Nicaragua has an ample supply of horses at varying prices and quality. If you ever get a chance,go see The Hipica which is held in Granada every august. I personally feel that Phil's advice about not bringing cars to Nicaragua is correct, and maybe it's not necessary to drag horses down to Nicaragua...it's a long haul, a bit cruel on the horse. How long does it take to drive down with a horse?. But then again, we humans have such soft spots for our animals. Just like the people who want to remain in New Orleans with their pets.

john...he reminds me of..

a little boy standing in the street calling the other kids names because he cant do anything else. he is probably the weakling of his neighborhood and was picked on by the other kids. so he has to try and act out his frustrations on the internet where he is safe to show his terrible personality, no education, no intelligence. he is probably a loner because no one could stand to be around him. he probably has a hard time with relationships because he cannot discuss anything only call names to reinforce his position. the way that he talks on this forum he would probably be a very abusive husband to some unlucky woman.

Perez

What is a chilote?

WHO IS GOD...?

WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO SAY THAT GOD MADE ME. GOD? wHY DO YOU YANKEES LEAN SO MUCH ON RELIGION? YOU GUYS GET SO TRAUMATIC ABOUT DEATH. wHEN YOU DIE BOY...YOU DIE...AIN'T NO GODDY BOY GONNA GIVE YOU A TICKET TO ETERNAL HOMOSEXUAL BLISS(YES, I'VE READ ABOUT HOW MANY PILOTS ARE HOMOSEXUALS...BUT THAT'S COOL...IT'S A FREE WORLD...WELL, OUTSIDE OF USA IT IS). IF YOU CAN'T CONTROL YOUR PATHETIC INSULTS GO FIND SOME OTHER PLACE TO DO IT.PLEASE TRY AND REFRAIN FROM ISSUING MORE TRIVIAL AND INFANTIL INSULTS. DIOS TE BENDIGA!

I AM SO SORRY FOR...

YOUR WIFE AND KIDS WHO AS YOU PUT IT "PUT UP WITH YOU". DO THEY REALLY HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU INFINTILE RAMBLINGS? DO YOU SWEAR AT THEM LIKE YOU DO EVERYONE ELSE ON THIS FORUM? DO YOU CALL YOUR KIDS HOMOSEXUALS? YOU MUST CARRY A VERY BIG CHIP ON YOUR SHOULDER. YOU HAVE SLAMMED PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM FOR NO REASON CALLING THEM NAMES THAT ARE UNCALLED FOR.

YOU ARE NOT A GOOD REPRESENTIVE OF NICARAGUA, YOU ARE NOT A GOOD REPRESENTATION OF A MAN PERIOD. YOUR SO CALLED CARING OF OTHER PEOPLE IS NOTHING BUT A LIE....IT SHOWS IN HOW YOU TALK TO PEOPLE. YOU CANNOT EXPRESS YOUR THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS IN AN INTELLIGENT OR EVEN SEMI-INTELLIGENT MANNER. IF SOME PART OF YOUR ARGUEMENT IS DEBATED ALL YOU CAN DO IS CALL NAMES AND SWEAR INSULTS.

OH THE HOMELIFE YOUR FAMILY MUST HAVE TO ENDURE BEING AROUND YOU! I FEEL SO VERY SORRY FOR THEM. HAVE YOU CONSIDERED GOING TO COUNSELING? I REALLY THINK YOU NEED PROFESSIONAL HELP. AS YOU SAY "JUST DO IT", FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR FAMILY AND YOU WILL FEEL BETTER. AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO PUT YOUR OPINION AND FEELINGS ACROSSED TO OTHER PEOPLE IN A MANNER THAT SHOWS YOU HAVE INTELLIGENCE AND UNDERSTANDING AND COMPASSION FOR OTHER PEOPLES BELIEFS AND OPINIONS THAT DO NOT GO ALONG WITH YOURS.

SO THAT I WILL STAY ON THE THREAD OF THIS POST I WILL GIVE A QUOTE "YOU CAN LEAD A HORSE TO WATER BUT YOU CAN'T MAKE IT DRINK".

I DOUBT THAT PEREZ WILL UNDERSTAND ANY OF THIS.

agiain you show your not intelligent

i never slammed your family....i slammed you and you unintelligent ramblings. if your family has to put up with you i am sorry for them. you are the one that needs help.

don't even

don't even consider putting family on the page again...you are a man seriously in trouble...this is not a bluff, you are in deep shit...

again...

you show how you are not a caring individual....you are a violent person who does not care about people at all. any post by you about how much you care about other people will not be believed by anyone. you are showing your true self in your writing. you do not understand what you read and then give a flurry of swearing and slamming others and give threats of some violence.

are you drunk? dont you see that when you slam others the way you have that all you get back is the same? you have not tried one bit to see the other peoples viewpoint, have not tried to debate on a peaceful platform to get others to see your viewpoint. if you would get off your high horse you would see that many of us have the same viewpoints on government wrongs as well as life.

no one changes another persons opinions and thoughts by calling them names and swearing at them. you would be better served by calming down and trying to put what you believe and what bothers you in a more peaceful way. violent actions and violent talk only brings violent actions and violent talk back to you. a peaceful man does not have to watch his back when he walks down the street but a man prone to violence makes many enemies and has to watch his back. i am not a violent man and i do not believe that threats to me need any threats given back. i am sorry that you have such a violent streak in you. you would find life alot more pleasant and just might find out that there are people that have common ground with you.

through some of your pictures you have shown how much you love nicaragua. you probably have alot of information about the area that you are in but you have not taken the opportunity to use the pictures to reinforce any of your opinions or beliefs and you could have. by the way i think that the pictures of the scenery and everyday life are good. i just wish that you could expand on those with information and your knowledge.

everyone has strong feelings and opinions when there is a wrong done or being done. most of us on the forum i believe are just sick of the injustices that are happening around us. alot of this is out of our control and all we can do is open our mouths. that said we dont need to be calling names and swearing just because we dont agree.

you have made some mistakes in your interpretation of a number of posts and called people names for no apparent reason. we cannot understand where you are coming from. why you are calling names when someone has not even said something bad to you in the post. your responses to the posts have gotten you responses back that you did not like. i think you started this landslide of slamming and you can stop it by not calling people names and swearing, its that easy.

this is my last reply to you as i dont think that i want to waste anymore time with this. i do hope that you understand what i am trying to say.

Horse rescue

This is a little of topic... but still: I was wondering where in Texas you are. There are a couple of people form the Austin/San Antonio area that are planning a trip to LA this weekend to get horses out that need help. They need hay, tack, medicine etc.

Horse rescue

My ranch is near Fort Worth, por que? I didn't understand where you're going with this....?

Horse rescue

Was wondering if you have a couple of old halters or anything that you could donate... but DFW is kind of far to get down her by tomorrow night.

too much info

from the posts recently I wouldn't mention the words ranch and texas together. You surely will become an outcast. I will keep an eye on this though as I am curious how it turns out importing livestock.

Too much info

I must not have been reading recent posts carefully enough. I missed any negative comments about the words "ranch" and "Texas" used together. An outcast because of that? Would it be better if I sold insurance and lived in New Jersey?

john and i were just joking....

about the differences of farmer and rancher because i am a rancher. dont sell insurance and live in new jersey just because you didnt understand our dum jokes.

i will lay you odds that it is more like importing or bringing the family pet. the only difference would be veterinarians are involved. if it is a business then there are probably more paperwork involved in bringing in assests. but i dont really know because i presently do not live in nicaragua. best of luck. if you get them there sounds like you can make a buck or two as someone on this site wanted to rent a horse to ride the beach or ?.

good luck

john i can tell.....

you are not a horseman...everyones horse is special even i bet in nicaragua. some kind of love hate relationship with your own horse. the best horse i ever owned cost U$300. it wasnt reined to a competion caliber, didnt like to be saddled in cold weather. but it always worked hard and brought me home in the evening after working cows. it seems to have a different relationship than having a dog or cat but still has the affection. especially horses and girls, my daughters were better horsewomen than i was a horseman even when they were young. just seems like they had a feeling for the horse and how to make it perform right.

some people like bloodlines and find it important and get wrapped up in registered bloodlines, others just like to have an OLD NAG AROUND to bother with from time to time. darn just opened up an opportunity for jokes! i had better quit while i am ahead a little bit.

john....

i was just wondering what you would call a "puffy shirted, parrot carrying, guy with an eye patch on a horse"?

Stupid looking cowboy!

guess i will put away the horse then i will be a good looking pirate!

in this day and age looks are important you know.

JUST LIKE CARS...

in Nicaragua you can can buy excellent horses at even more excellent prices. The other thing is if your horse is part of the family and HAS to come...
