Cinnamon ready to process..

I went to buy milk the other day and my neighbor was whacking these sticks together. In one pile were the ones that had the outer bark scraped off. The next pile were ones being whacked together up and down the length of the stick. Then the inner back is peeled off for drying. I had no idea cinnamon grew here

Thanks for the info-I like little facts like that especially when someone explains processing-any idea of what they do with the wood itself?

toothpicks?
Don't laugh - I've seen cinnamon wood toothpicks, made from the roots of the tree. They have a slightly sweet fragrance like cinnamon flavoured candy rather than the fragrance of the bark.

Or two inch lathes - ha! Would you believe the toothpicks in your attachment are identical to the ones I saw? You don't forget toothpicks that fancy.

Hell I wore my Birkenstocks in the winter in Montana. Just pool wool socks on and your good to go! Long as the snow didn't get too deep.
