Santa Maria de Pantasma

There is speculation (unconfirmed) that a meteor created the highland valley of Santa Maria de Pantasma. This peaceful farming community of approximately 40,000 was the site of the "Massacre of Pantasma" when on October 18, 1983, 47 people were killed by Contra forces in this heavily fought region.
