This is the humor section..like all news paper and media..have different sections...must of the time i hate the economy...but not because isn't important, but too much numbers and technical words to describe the mess ....
Here.. a simple photo depict the anguish of a man,,that for must people was only a puppet..and for others a leader...finding the funny side is optional, like reading the post....

The main problem here was a third party, who does not know the country, rarely adds anything useful on this site, represents himself as an expert in a lot of things he is obviously not expert in (you know, the broad hints about his "black ops" background), who told me to smoke dope and loosen up. That is where this went awry. Let's drop the discussion...if you think your post is humor, it is. ZZT

you seem to be quite the "expert" yourself ATZ -at least you certainly seem to portray yourself as one on many a subject. Now my comment was just a lighthearted comment to try and make you lighten up a bit. But, obviously, you like taking yourself way too seriously-for example indulging in a little slander when someone calls you on your bad attitude. re my Vietnam experience and your reference to hints of "black ops" -well my military service record in the form of whats called a DD214 is in my possession and if you are really interested I can always send you a copy. It will tell you where I served, how I served, and a fair bit about what we did. Or-alternatively you can just plug in Mobile Riverine-Task Force 117 and google it up.
Your other comments on being an "expert" -not sure what you are talking about there but if you are referencing Nicaragua and/or Latin America my experience in Nicaragua is about 18 months in 3 visits to Nicaragua. Latin America in general starts with my growing up with the Cubano refugees in south Florida, knocking around in Mexico off and on since I was age 6, 1 year in San Juan, Puerto Rico and 4 years in South America living in the Amazon (Leticia, Colombia) and finally traveling around all the Andean countries and a fair chunk of Brazil. Also I have been in all the Central American Republics several times. I also am a keen student of history and archaeology so I do a fair amount of reading and study on native cultures, nature studies, and political and social events in Latin America history.
Whether you have any respect for me or not Mr. ATZ is a moot issue-I care not. I don't know you and in all likelihood probably never will so you are of no importance to me. I have noticed your caustic nature many a time since you joined NL and my take on you is your basically just a sour person with some kind of chip on your shoulder. I would suspect that you have few friends, if any, among the Nicaraguan community wherever it is you live.

two posts ago with an apology for being "grouchy' in my comment and acknowledging "do what you will in humor" seemed OK. Uhhh,,,when is the last time anything close to an apology appeared on here? Not too often. Not much more I can do....but after that, Mr Bird Man (or (bird brain) still wants to make more points about how great he is and evaluate me and my relationships with locals without ever seeing me or knowing what I do or who I am. You have taken a little post between Jon and I which was essentially wrapping up this admittedly silly back and forth (and I was a part of that sillyness and admitted it) and made it into...what, I really do not know. But, it exceeds the sillyness of the first part of this. Yep, your name got mentioned at the end of the last post and if you had any humor in your bones and recalled your acerbic exchanges with him about the site, you would have recognized that as what it was...just a reminder to him to moderate better (and likely cut it/me off earlier on).
Now you are off on an insult binge....one that really does not bother me as I have a great life here....and had a great night last night as I will today. Folks, there is something I don't get about this thread. Comrade Che made a comment Brother ATZ, (You don't mind if I call you Brother?), objected to.
He spoke his mind and our socialist hero responded. And you guessed it, we were off to the races....
I mean it is interesting to hear some peoples experiences in a theater of war. It is good that they are here to tell about them. At the same time it is wrong for them to assume others do not share similar experiences. Only because others don't speak about it, they may have just as much, or more wartime experiences under their belt. They choose not to talk about it. And you never know who the person is. It could be the drummer behind the drum set in the band. It could be the mild mannered newspaper editor, or it could be the pushy real estate salesman. It could even be the lawyer quoting song lyrics. It even could be all four of them. One just never knows...
And there is Susan who rarely gets involved in a discussion, browbeating our friend from Granada. While I'm not exactly sure but whatever set her off, it must have really irritated her.
So please, let there be peace in the valley, and let this thread fade into the annals of NL history where it belongs. (I reserve the right to bring it out into the open once a while to dust it off and admire the photo.)

I have no problem with war stories. Just don't want them to be used gratuitously as fodder for validation of "how much I know because I did this". I have generally found that most of what is said in that context is BS...OK BE, I do not mean you necessarily so don't get your shorts in a bind. What has being a war time bad ass to do with any of this. I can trade you blow for blow on any of that.

talking to you about anything. You have nothing to add, just a lot of typical talk from afar BS. I do post on a lot of things...almost all give some adivce on specifics of doing stuff down here...from experience...like shipping things in, roads, etc. Very little on the philosophy of life and politics which is pretty much all you do, as your experience down here is not really current/useful and mostly relate to self agrandizing stories about your past trips here. Again on this one, you have managed to list your resume as a post. Sad man. ZZT

I hope it's nothing more than some clever comebacks, wit and sarcasm. We shouldn't have to resort to telling people to take a drink a smoke or a tablet.
We are smarter than that.
Some are smarter.
Others are just clueless, and disruptive of what can be a useful tool. There is a place for humor, but maybe it should be related to this country or at least something current, not just something someone wants to write down to try to show us how clever they are......or else why don't we just all tell our favorite jokes. That is OK with me, just keep them on a part that does not clutter stuff or be disruptive.
Look at the site over the past month...lots of good info exchanged and a lot of relevant news and comments that are on target to the post. Seems like a better place to me and one that will attract and keep people. This kind of stuff is moving back the other way. If that is what people want..just do it. I'll shut up about it all. make no difference to me, I too am just a visitor here who has tried to share good information and has benefitted from a lot of it myself. I do think a bit of discipline helps us in our objective. Having a 63 post thread about Honduras was shitty for the site, and that is just one example of how things get off track. You want a philosophy course, or a pseudo-history/socialogy on here, or what that is fine, or else stop that stuff as it starts. I am out of this discussion and will not be bothered with making comments on the site about this silly crap, except to use it for what I need.ZZT
