Language Differences in English tooSubmitted by fyl on 25 April, 2004 - 06:52.
For me, learning a new language has a lot to do with attitude. As far as natural languages go, English and Spanish are about it for me but I saw this attitude in me when learning new programming languages. That is, when you go to learn something new you tend to compare it to something you know and, in many cases, decide that differences are defects. The only two English speakers I know in Estelí speak a different language than I do. That is, one is British, the other is Irish. Every time Stephen says something like "I am going to go ring up Octavio" it reminds me that even within English many expressions will seem very foreign. This is helping me see Spanish as just a different dialect of natural language. ( categories: )
