Organic or Natural Soap?

I'm wondering if homemade type soap (the kind I buy in Canada is made with saponified oils, oil, and essential oil) is readily available in Nicaragua? How about natural or organic shampoo? Naturally made women's skin care lines including things like face moisturizer?

I'm trying to decide what skin care products to bring along. I only like to put stuff on my skin and my kids' skin that I wouldn't mind putting in my mouth.

Local soaps in Masatepe

I was fortunate recently to meet Sra. Aura Maria Uriarte who has natural medicine training and makes natural soaps, shampoos, creams, etc out of her home in Masatepe (Carazo). She also holds WORKSHOPS for those interested in learning about plants, making soaps, as well as a series on nutrition and preparing jellies and such. Sra. Uriarte has published a book on the above topics! This is the website for her organization: http://ahualcatl.blogspot.com/ her email: aurauriarte@hotmail.com Upcoming workshop is in November, a food-related topic. Sign up! p.s. All in espanol

Bioland products

It seems most if not all Bioland (a Costa Rica company with organic food and personal care products) products are available in Estelí. There are a lot of "botanical" stores and they seem to have an assortment. They also have other products besides the Bioland line.

What I have never seen here but would like to get are the Dr. Bronner's products.

on the other end of the stick

does any body know what's in those day glo fruit scented liquid cleaners they sell door to door in old pop bottles? My maid bought a blue one that smells just like barbicide

Seen them

I have seen them but you just documented another reason why I don't have a maid. :-)
