A long time in coming

It has taken a while. Looking back, I see it was February 12, 2008, that I sent my request in to have Nicaragua added.

Shipping to Nicaragua from the U.S.

I'm new to all of this, but my husband is living in Managua. I was going to ship some items to him and priced the shipping. For 70 pounds of a variety of things, it ran $800 for UPS for a 24x24x24 in. box. I found another shipper who cost half of that at $400. Then, I found if I shipped these items in a 22x22x22 in. box via Taca Airlines Cargo, they have a promotion right now that runs $90 and a 17x17x17 box is now $75.

Does anyone know of a cheaper way to ship things quickly?

My husband has said that in Managua they sell bar-sized refrigerators for around $200 new. He also said there is a "mercado" where you can buy tons of used items and he's found some good deals there on other items.

There is a good "Scratch and Dent' place on the edge of the Oriental, I was there once but I can't recall exactly where it was, this may jog someones memory. If you doing an under the counter jobbie you could get luck with some side dents you wont see and save a bit.
