Sorry for Being Missing

0

I want to apologize for my absense from NL. Or, more generically, my absence from the Internet. I should be around most of the time now but I was busy learning things.

When I wasn't on-site at CoolTop I learned the following:

  • Workers don't really do what you had told them to do.
  • When questioned about something, they have the ability to "de-regulate" the truth.

Well, I have been on-site for a bunch of corrections to work done on my house and additions such as the kitchen counters and piedra zopalote floor. What I have learned is:

  • Workers don't really do what you tell them to do.
  • When questioned about something, even though you were there and saw what really happened, they have the ability to "de-regulate" the truth.

Right now I am not sure which is worse. That is, being surprised by what happened or being frustrated attempting to control what is happening. In any case, the approximately one week of work is, after about two months, close to being done. That doesn't mean the house is done but it means the workers will be out of it and we can move in and finish what we were supposed to be finishing and fix what the workers screwed up.

Note being on-line mostly isn't related to the workers. Ok, I take that back—I can think of three specific things workers did or didn't do that are significant parts of this problem. But, I digress. The VSAT system is working fine. The link from the VSAT location to my garage is in place and working fine. The issue is power at the VSAT.

While there are some bad choices, the good one is to remove the solar panels from the roof of my house in Estelí and mount them near the VSAT system to charge the battery/batteries. By the time you read this message, this relocation of PV electricity should be in progress. Yes, it was delayed by a worker not doing what he said he was doing.

You're forgiven!

We'll forgive you for being "missing" if your wife does to! Glad to hear you weren't down in Argentina! :)

I know the answer! The answer lies within the heart of all mankind! The answer is twelve? I think I'm in the wrong building. - Peanuts (Charles M. Schulz)

I am the one who needs to forgive me

The current worker (for about two months) and his assortment of assistants are actually her workers. The guy in charge keeps inventing things to do and then puts them at the top of the list instead of the end.

Now, two of the people he had working for him were great. But, he got rid of them because he had to pay them. :-)

Employees

Here is article I found recently that may help you.

Can you post some pictures of the Hotel?

I can relate

to the part about 1 week of work taking 2 months. Do you think that is normal for Nicaragua?? Cause its normal at our place.

I had to smile when I read your post

Just before I sat down at the computer I gave one of my workers a major lecture about doing what they are told to do.

In my case, he was told to fill some holes in the road to my home. He was told where to take the material for the fill from. Naturally it was to far to walk with the wheelbarrow, so he in his wisdom dug a large hole into the steep embankment to get at material that was closer to where he was working.

End result: I'll be building a retaining wall that is likely to going to cost $500.

But it's all good.... We'll get used to their way off doing things or run out of money... whatever comes first.

Welcome back to NL fyl!
