flies

Since May I have been infested with flies. My place is clean and is cleaned at least 2 dailey. I use fly bait to kill the flies. Literally thoushands have been killed ove the past weeks.
Where do they come from? How many are there? How can I kill them all? :-) Is there a good way of controlling them?
Thanks!!!

strategically place sweets
strategically place sweets in an open area and wait for the flies to gather for a taste, then spray them with bug spray
repeat as needed. you may have to replace the sweets each time you spray

Sweets??
Well this it too funny. You and I think alike, but on the opposite side of the scale. instead of using sweets, I noticed the flies liked my dog's --umm-- crap. Well I bought some of the pellets that flies seem to like and sprinkled them all over the pile of poop.
I did this for about a week straight and ther are definately less flies now. It might be coincidence as well. My girlfriend seems to think the heavy rains lately played a role in getting rid of the flies as well.

my mother-in-law places
my mother-in-law places cooking oil - bugs get into anything - in a bowl, swishes the oil around to cover the bowl on all sides just before bed time and then places it down on the kitchen floor in the center of the room when she notices a bug problem has arisen. the next morning she places hot water within the bowl and flushes its contents down the toilet and then continues repeating the process nightly until the problem's under control. the bugs can't get back out, they slip right back down and get trapped. it may work for ants too

Welcome to the rainy season
It is part of Nica life. With the begining of the raining season, flies and mosquitos start to hatch. You could buy fly catchers that they sell at HW stores. They are basically long strips of sticky paper that you hang around the house. I have heard and seen the plastic bags filled with water theory also. Get yourself a swatter and entertain yourself. This will go on until around September. Good luck
Candles
A friend swears that (lighted) candles deter flies. haven't tried it yet but planning to--i'm having the same issue :(
Using Hickaro to control insects
Hello - We've had some luck using Hickaro (I don't know if I am spelling it correctly, but they are the big green balls that grow on the trunk of the tree.) Cut them in half when they are brown, and lay them around. I am not sure if it works on flies, but it certainly can't hurt! Stacy
Here in North Carolina many
Here in North Carolina many people use a clear plastic bag filled with water and put over exterior doors and it does seem to help with the flies?
I've heard that here also.
I've heard that here also. But even if it works, you have to have a limited number of ways they can get in, such as a doorway or window. If you are in an open air setup, there's not much hope of setting enough plastic bags to help.
Candles are the way to go
We have been successful in keeping the flies away from the terrace table at least. Tea lights are inexpensive and they do the trick. As it gets windier the challenge is to keep them lit.
