Dr. Harvey Wells of Jinotega passed away March 26. One of the most interesting men I've ever met. Nicaragua has lost a great son.

by the way

not the best choice of picture. Did you scare him in this picture? haha

thank you

I don't know who you are, but thank you. Harvey Wells was my grandfather. I know that many people have stayed in touch with him around the world. He used to show me all the mail he'd recieve from different countries in Europe from ex-students. He was proud of them. It gave him fulfillment that he'd done something. He was the ONLY historian in Jinotega. He was saddened to see the direction of the country. He told me before he died that the Sandinistas stole the country just like before and now another civil war is most likely to occur. The hospitals there didn't provide him the type of care a man of his caliber deserved. He is someone who is more appreciated in doses around the world more than in his own hometown. Don't get me wrong, he was loved in Jinotega, but his influence is much more. He is most definitely one of the most interesting people in the world. I know he is looking down on us all helping us and protecting us.

I meet him

Hi PPastora, i have the chance to meet him , because my father had busisness with other Wells, the insurance guy (i forgot the name)Maybe Fred, that was long time ago maybe in the 72 something like, i wa a nice person , well educated person but with humorous side.I listen from him history about Jinotega foundation, and how his family were part of the first population,

I was part of the change that happen to my country in the 80, and unfortanely i can assure that due to the stupid iedeological and wrong propaganda, people like your granddad, that use to be or had foreign roots, become a people hated by the revolution (fanatics) and objects of personal attacks, the only foreigners wellcome were the bacpackers, the communist and those that came with dollars to make buissness with the dictatorship, and a few to happen to have important industry or asset in the country, or that they could be used for more propaganda in connection with thie countries.

I make this observation because is part of the history and some foreigners think that they are aprecciated because are supporters of the sandinistas, but this piece of history show us that people that came to this land in times when you must had to come to really work and not make propaganda or use the money of a network or only looking for a cheaper place to live , were treated in a despicable way.

PP Que Dios guarde a tu querido abuelo en su Santa Gloria y que su recuerdo te reconforte.
