Road construction Poneloya

Has anyone here seen first hand or are aware of the Road construction from Leon to Poneloya?

I have heard it is in construction...yet one hears many things that arnt true. Is it just puting dirt in the holes or are they really repairing this road?

yep, real paved highway...

...and it is actually being completed as we speak. And it looks like it's being built to US standards. There's even a new residential development going in in anticipation of the highway's completion:

they were working on it, graders, bridges, etc. Looks to be a first class road.

Other road from Leon to Esteli (to the Panam at San Isidro) was also being worked on, from the Leon side eastward. This was the one that was paid for by by a US group that is bailing out of the country, but It appears to be an orderly withdrawal, so this project will be completed.

Old road is very sad: a beautiful asphalt road that appears to have never had any maitenance and was allowed to just rot in the sun and rain. Hopefully the Nicaraguan govmint will do better on the new road.
