Snow covered mountains above Esteli

Oh, well . . .
Oh well, I guess with global warming we won't have that to worry about anymore. But just how often has it ever snowed in the mountains above Esteli? Once every 500 years, or is the picture just plain bogus? Surely there is not enough altitude in those mountains for that to happen very often.

It could be that the climate was cooler back then 1915 and prior, I've read that even wheat was grown in Esteli and Somoto in the past so that's an indication. It could very well be that it snowed and it was a rare occurrence (every 500 yrs like you say), it could also be hail. The mountains do look like those of Esteli's western ridge though. I got the picture from a actual book scanned into google books I referenced on my first post.
