"single" document to get married

0

i've asked before about the single document but i'm still a bit confused. My fiance asked a lawyer there in Nicaragua what i would need but the lawyer never mentioned that doc. at all. I am aware i'll probably need it but i was wondering, i know im supposed to get a lawyer to write it up but where should my lawyer be? the us or nicaragua? because i've read somewhere that if you get a lawyer to write this document you have to have 2 witnesses that can vouche for you and in nicaragua i won't have 2. seeing as i've never been there lol. does it matter where i get the document written? i was thinking about getting something here & having 2 ppl that know me sign it as witnesses then take it to nicaragua...not sure if this will work. and does it HAVE to be by a lawyer or could a notary write it? thanks for the responses in advance.

Lawyers

One explanation is that this document is so basic (and almost silly, really - but is required) that the lawyer didn't even bother mentioning it and included the cost for it in any other calculation he gave your fiance, if that is what he did. Another explanation is that the lawyer isn't much of a lawyer. Have your fiance ask the lawyer exactly what the document is, what purpose it serves, and how much it costs. If the lawyer doesn't seem to have specific believable answers then you know it is time for a new lawyer because this is a very simple, common document. You should get the document in Nicaragua and your fiance can supply marriage witnesses.
