Nica visa to South America
Submitted by nicagirlover on Fri, 2008/10/24 - 21:35.
Will a Nica encounter the same difficulties in obtaining a tourist visa to Chile as they would for the US; need to be wealthy or from a well known family? Are there other Latin America countries other than CR that a Nica can travel to with a tourist visa? thanks

travel to cuba
What is required to travel to Cuba from Nicaragua.I am a citizen of the U.S. but i'm really interested in learning about Cuba..
A visa and a ticket
First, let me say that the U.S. government says that a U.S. citizen does not have the right to travel to Cuba except under very restricted, "gotta ask first" circumstances. That said, I know lots of U.S. citizens that have. The standard approach is to travel from the U.S. to Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica or another "neutral" place and then fly to Cuba.
Cuba gives you a separate visa card as Mexico now does so there will be no Cuba stamp in your passport. I don't know if everyone must get a visa before traveling to Cuba but I know for sure that Costa Ricans must. Best check with the Cuban embassy.

Thank you fyl.I'm new to Nicaliving and wanted to make sure and do things the proper way.
A Nicaraguan does NOT
A Nicaraguan does NOT require a visa to visit Chile as a tourist.
Although a US Citizen has to pay a $131 USD reciprocity fee at the Immigration Desk for Chile (I believe Canadians pay $75 USD), a Nicaraguan enters gratis.
Nicaraguans do require visas to visit Costa Rica, but not Panama, Belize or the CA-4 countries.
Nor do Nicaraguans require tourist visas for some of these countries:
Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, All Schengen Countries and most other continental-European countries, Iceland, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Switzerland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Turkey (note: Canadians and US Citizens require visa for Turkey, which is available on arrival).
Many other countries provide Visa-on-Arrival to Nicaraguans, and these countries require visa or give Visa-on-Arrival to citizens of most other countries like the USA and Canada. Examples (that I have been to) include Tanzania, Egypt, Jordan, Cambodia, Laos.
The Nicaraguan passport is actually quite useful for travel, once one gets off the American continent. My girlfriend is Chinese (People's Republic), and Chinese people really DO need a visa for EVERYWHERE (except of course Macau and Hong Kong).
I prefer using my Nicaraguan passport for most global travel, as visa (when required) fees are generally cheaper and preassumptions are generally more neutral about Nicaraguans.
Of course, I also like to think that I am leaving a positive impression about Nicaraguans when I visit places like Malaysia.
Not like U.S.
There are not all that many barriers (other than job/funds/plan evidence) to a Nicaraguan visiting many other Latin countries. There are some exceptions. Generally speaking, Chile is not one of them, or at least is not comparable to visiting the U.S. I am sure there are better sites, but many travel and student agencies maintain inter-country tourist-student visa data. Here is a simple, straightforward one: http://www.embassiesabroad.com/embassies-in/Nicaragua#701 . As evidenced there, Chile maintains an Embassy in Nicaragua: http://www.embachileni.com/Es/index.htm
