the picture he seems like a very sincere man and also a baseball player. But is he someone you want on your team? What I find strange from this foto is that he swings from the left, the far left.

I was so struck by this pic

when I saw it I snapped a photo of the paper over breakfast...An almost identical shot was published in El Diario that morning,

But I thought you were going to post this bit of news

LAKEVILLE, Minn

McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama's character, he described the Democrat as a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."

"I don't trust Obama," a woman said. "I have read about him. He's an Arab." McCain shook his head in disagreement, and said: "No, ma'am. He's a decent, family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with (him) on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign is all about."

Looks like even McCain has grown weary of a campaign based on fear, bigotry and half truths.....

Race

It's amazing that in the XXI century some or most of the republicans only accept a monolithic race, mainly WASP, and that it takes another republican(McCain) to explain to them that being an Arab is OK.

Al.

nice try . . .

except he's neither an arab or a muslim - no matter how many times they try to convince people otherwise.

Color of the skin

The Text: "I have read about him. He is an Arab"

People don't need to be convinced, they are reacting to the color of Obama's skin. Most USA-Nos can't tell the difference between a dark skinned Latino(a) and an Arab, and that makes it even worst.

reading something doesn't make it true

reading something doesn't make it true. Kenya is not an Arab country, less than 1% of the population are of Arab origin and even if it were, he was born in the US and that makes him American. I'll give you that . . . "Most USA-Nos can't tell the difference between a dark skinned Latino(a) and an Arab, and that makes it even worst" - and the sooner they stop trying the better. It is of no consequence, holds back human development and keeps the planet divided into tribes. We can be better than that. Where one was born is not something one can change. Ideas matter and transcend nationality, race and gender. Nothing good ever came of demonizing the "other".

Stating the obvious

Of course, reading something doesn't make it true.

I very much dislike what McCain's supporters have said about Obama, they said it and i was only quoting it.

I have no argument against you, in fact, i, 100% agree with your position on the issue.

Thanks,

Al

Leoneses

What do the majority of Leoneses think of this guy? It seems to me that the FSLN isn't too popular. As we get closer to the elections in the States I sure hope the republicans don’t pick up clubs. They seem to be pretty freaked out.

Opinions

While i can't speak for the majority of Leoneses, i can tell you that all of the nicas i know here in L.A. Calif. and in Leon, are in principle, opposing the D.O.'s regime, and his candidates.

A short answer: IMO, the problem with D.O.'s regime, is that it has become a dictatorship, it has created the CPC's to intimidate the citizenry, it has staffed the courts with his cronnies, it has disenfranchised the only viable party, the MRS, it uses violence to quiet dissidence and like Somoza's dictatorship, it has its "Loyal opposition" in Arnoldo Aleman's PLC,. So it's irrelevant how the nicas vote this coming elections, we'll loose.

That's how i see it.
