San Salvador...

The road is a little better in El Salvador, and the signs are more abundant, we actually found the hotel we were looking for, Holiday Inn. Nice place, but again Sue got the room, me, I sleep with the dogs. It is fairly cool here, I slept with a sheet on quite comfortably, the rain lulled me to sleep quickly (after a few beers ;) )

Getting into El Salvador was a bit more of a challenge than Guatemala, but Sue did her usual excellent job. A very good 'helper' found us, a deaf mute, that ran to the end of the line where we had parked behind a semi and saved us from a needless wait. In all it took maybe 2 hours from our 2pm arrival until we were on our way. This was the first time anyone had given any notice to the dogs and checked all the paperwork carefully. Again I paid no duty, as I had to in Mexico. The crossing area was as one would expect, congested, noisy and malodorous. Just past the boarder we stopped to buy some local bananas from a road side stand, a Portuguese man owned it and was happy to brush up on his English with Sue as he explained the different yummie varieties for sale and cautioned us that this was a very violent area. My suspicions went to the "add alcohol" theory.
