Update on why Representative Weller is a Scumbag

These past NL articles talked about this character:

Well, The Herald News offers an update. Probably most important is he decided to retire (from the U.S. House, that is) which should allow him to become somewhat more invisible. Most amusing is probably

To the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, Weller wrote a letter indicating he would not include his wife's income or assets as required because he has no knowledge of them, has not contributed toward them, and does not expect to benefit from them.

"I am aware my wife may possess assets in her native Guatemala. However, I do not know what those assets are, nor have I inquired," Weller wrote the committee.

While I don't plan to run for Congress in this lifetime and while my non-U.S. wife isn't a legislator like his Guatemalan wife, it is nice to know you can apparently avoid disclosure so easily. I will keep this information on file "just in case".

I have no idea why this make him anything different than you

Or is he not allowed to invest in NICA? Ohhhh, I get it. That is reserved for you and others who you approve of. You, as alway, will be the judge and jury of what is proper. Sad, as usual.ZZT

Read first

I didn't suggest he couldn't. The other articles don't suggest he can't either. The issue is one of him being a scumbag which he clearly is. Is he a criminal? I am not sure. But, I am sure he is a scumbag and anyone who reads the articles will see why. Of the articles referenced, this Chicago Tribune one remains available. It includes:
The congressman listed only one Nicaraguan property purchase on his 2005 disclosure form, but property records in Nicaragua show that he bought or sold at least eight pieces of land.
and
Weller's status as an American lawmaker was a selling point in at least one transaction, according to David Steinhaus, of Boise, Idaho, who bought two lots from Weller in February 2006 for about $70,000 -- and is now trying to get out of the purchase.

"They were kind of bragging about it," Steinhaus said of the salesmen who pitched him the Weller property. "[They said] 'This is being developed by U.S. Congressman Jerry Weller. He's on the Ways and Means Committee. It should be a clean deal."

CIA done it

You say they control all the media in the USA, so they must have a hard on for him. Makes him on your side!

So, now a customer who wants out of a deal is

someone who we need to trust with an analysis or judgement...or for us to make one. Ha! Come on, even you know all the problems with that. They want their money back as do a lot of other people. Who knows why, but they are not different than a lot of people who come here or CR, or Panama and when the excitement of the trip wears off, they rethink. Tough shit. There is always a good reason and if not they will make one up.

The other point is that the "salesman" bragged about it ( well, kind of...shit this guy doesn't even know what is bragging or not). So, he listened to a salesman and is blaming the owner of the property. Bahhh...that too is bullshit. So what. Actually, he was revealing a fact, for one thing. For another...the salesman said it and in some way that makes Weller responsible? Come on, this is a real estete salesman. This Idaho potato is just grasping at straws.

don't know

"I am aware my wife may possess assets in her native Guatemala. However, I do not know what those assets are, nor have I inquired," don't know why you find that statement amusing. in many states in the usa, the marital property laws are based on the spanish concept of community property. the premise is that separate property, that is what was owned before marriage, or inherited, or gifted is separate property and is not part of the community property marital estate. do you find it amusing bc you assume the man should know all of his wife's assets? or did you assume that he takes dominion over them? please help me understand the premise at amusement at another human being? is that liberal compassion? and buying property and subdividing is a crime? maybe you may want to prosecute mr gonzales who sold me my property? did he defraud someone? i'll admit ignorance to that point. i did talk to him on the phone once, since for a short while, we were neighbors. he seemed like a nice man. nothing like a scumbag. he never threatened me. nor did he appease a scumbag. maybe you enjoy a liberal newspaper attacking a conservative? please help me so that i may be enlightened...would you like to revise or extend your remarks?

Ethics in Government Act of 1978...

requires them to file annual reports disclosing their personal finances.

Including;

"The source, but not the amount, of a spouse's income over $1,000 must also be reported."

but the legal mumbo jumbo aside, you would think that sometime over the years, just sitting around having breakfast it might come out in conversation, "Oh by the way Snookums, did I ever tell you I own 7% of Guatemala ?"

The people I know are very aware of their assets (or lack of) and the ones that are married pooled their assets for the common good (I know Liberal Commies), they didn't enter into some form of limited liability partnership.

But then we are mostly common work a day folks,

not the Global Elite

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate

i understood

i understood at the time from the man who sold me my lot that weller worked and lived in dc while his wife lived and worked in guatamala. so the breakfast conversation thing sounds a little difficult. as my dear liberal momma would say, "its not right or wrong, just different."

i understand what us work a day folks do, but i thought a liberal like fyl would be a little more compassionate to differing viewpoints and different lifestyles. i asked him questions bc i wondered if his viewpoint clouded his comments. then i gave him an opportunity to extend and revise his remarks bc we all make mistakes.... i thought that was a fair thing to do...
