Renewing a Permanent Cédula

This discussion has come up on the Casa Ben Linder list and the answers seem to be, well, variable. I am wondering if anyone here has done this recently and, if so, what hoop jumping was required.

Cedula
My wife applied for her cedula in early 2006, The cedula was issued last week, more than 2 years to process.
Without cedula, you can't even pay your taxes.

I need to know how to get d Cedula for the first time ?
I'm married to a Nica with no cedula. She has been living out of nicaragua for a long time. any tips. . .
No magic
The HowTo here tells you how. The only real hoop-jumping is all the paperwork for you (birth certificate and police report properly folded, stapled and mutilated). If you weren't married in Nicaragua, you need to ask about that. If you were, you just need an original from the Alcaldia.
You get a permanent cédula (5 year) right off the bat.

lots of money to get the cedula. It will co$t muchos reales for the trips to get it.
The CSE controlled by the sandinistas has made the procedure as cumbersome as possible to prevent nicas living abroad to get it. Otherwise their so-called 38% would fall to 25% or maybe even less.
It is not something that takes 24 hours, though it should be with todays technology.
lol thanks !!
:(
So what if you need to buy a property without cedula !!!!!
Can you buy a property as a foreigner @@@@@
It depends
I have. Today, Estelí seems to think you need a cédula to own some amount of stock (who knows what) in an S.A. Other departments, no. No idea what their current interpretation of the law is regarding ownership of real property in Estelí. Again, other places, no problem.
CEDULAS
pretty soon you will need them to buy food at the mercado oriental, if the trompudo has his way.
