Coffee Cream

Submitted by Amanda on 26 July, 2008 - 21:38.

...does it exist here? or is my best bet to milk a cow....i know it's not crema acida, but then I bought something else in the mercado called crema, and the right consistency, and had a whole conversation with the lady about how it specifically wasn't crema acida...but then i got it home and....maybe it had simply been out too long? it was not fresh cream, though it was definitely the right thickness...any ideas?

the best is

coffee and cacao its like bailys with out the booze.

if you dont care for that the second best is right from the cow! unpasturized or unpasterizado, just scoop the flies out

www.nicalandsales.com

You can find half/halff

but you will get used to drinking it black...crema dulce is whipping cream, not quite the same.

Finally someone

that knows the product. That's why I suggested to thin it with milk. It is worth a try. I agree, youll end up drinking your coffee black... eventually...

Crema dulce?

I have not seen it...looked in the Pali in Granada, and La Union in Managua....did I miss it on the shelf, or is there somewhere else I should be looking? Thanks!

Most places will carry it.

I always ask for it since I do not have the patience to look for stuff. Both Tres Pinos and Parmelat make it.

Try Crema Dulce

and dillute with milk as required.

1/2 and 1/2

Is one thing I can NOT live with out! So I had to make my own. Half milk Half crema, not acida crema, put it in a large jug mix. Shelf life is short, maybe 4 days.

GET WHOLE MILK

"cream" does not exist here. If you want to make Cafe-Creme as in Paris, you need whole milk (full fat) to get a similar flavor.

Although, you can find US half and half a certain fancy supermarkets.

All those cows and no whole cream

That would be a shame. I must investigate further upon my return.I need "real" cows making "real" cream so I can make "real" butter and "real" buttermilk. I need my buttermilk and cornbread for breakfast. Couple Jersey or Guernsey cows and an electric churn should do the trick.

I wonder if ...

the family that runs the creamery outside La Dalia knows that cream does not exist,

that poor deluded family.

Working all day at the cream separator, all those farmers lugging those heavy milk cans out of their way to have the non existent cream purchased by these obviously addle brained folks.

I can't wait to get back and help them overcome this mass delusion that has gripped the area.

We should thank our lucky stars we have such a wonderful thoughtful person to help guide us, show us the way to the non realtor tainted truth about this wonderful country...

thank you, oh bottomless font of supreme knowledge of all things Nicaraguanese

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate

NATA IS THE TERM IN SPANISH NOT CREMA...

listen Pendejos!

in Nicaragua "crema" means "sour cream" the stuff we nicas put on top of beans and gallo pinto.

NATA is the stuff you call cream. Our fresh whole milk HAS FULL NATA OR CREAM.

but if you want to be cute go ahead, it makes no difference to me. Just confirms my low opinions of these foreign invaders.

Thank you so much for that valuable information

Maybe you should let the manufacturer know "Oh wise one". Poor dumb slobs have no ideat what to call their product.

How about if....

you drop the snarky attitude and just tell me where I can get the cream. What department is La Dalia in, and does the creamery make a regular delivery to Managua or thereabouts? Could you tell me how to contact them? I am routinely dissapointed by the animosity that I find on this forum, which is supposedly (or maybe I'm the one with the wrong impression) about people trying to help eachother out with information and knowledge. Is it really such a crime to ask for some information and/or guidance these days? Anyway, thanks for the La Dalia tip.

a very small...

place, on the road to Bull Bull, past La Dalia they have a nice cream separator next to thier house. These are typical country folks, no vehicle, no sign, bring your own container kind of place, but there isn't any fresher. I'm bring my churn with me, homemade butter... yum..
