BB or Pellet Gun

Submitted by cookshow on 26 July, 2008 - 19:07.

I have a problem with some chickens, they have seen me with a slingshot & know that they are in no danger, any suggestions?

They told me

they are not scared of your damn slingshot. If I were you, I would throw some corn in my yard and bash their skulls in when they come over...then make pollo asado and forget it.

We had a problem ..

with the neighbor's chickens, the prior owner had started a small feud over them and got nowhere. My caretaker took care of them, quietly , one at a time they became soup. The last time I was there, not a chicken in sight.

Chickens are too stupid to remember they were scared away and just keep coming back. They are tough customers, bb's will bounce off and a head shot may be difficult as most bb guns have a smooth bore. A good pellet gun with a rifled barrel ought to do it. A .22 would be my choice. Also a beer can full of dry leaves makes a decent silencer for covert ops :)

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate

Corn Island Chickens

These chickens seem to be more intelligent than your normal mainland chicken (or maybe I am getting dumber), they are very cautious, I tried to feed them & that will not work, I think they understand the concept of bodily harm.

get yourself some Guinea hens

they are smarter than chickens re predators and are much better eating.

The problem

I want no Fowl on my property. Fowl do not play well with my garden.

what about chickenwire fencing?

sometimes one has to spend money to avoid aggravation.

A friend had problems with cusucos on his property, but has not seen one since we placed chickenwire along the fenceline.

the side effect is now I dont get to help him trap the cusucos! they are delicious!

Another good idea, gone bad

I have 3 acres with 7 strands of barbed wire & 3 feet of chicken wire around the entire property, the spending of money does not seem to deter the chickens. My garden buffet seems more appealing to them than a few kernels of corn at their homes.

SANDINISTA CHICKENS...

Wow! as the british say, those are persistent buggers!

you see, these chickens are sandinista chickens. They dont care what they have to do as long as they plunder someone else's crops!!!!. check the plumage for red/black combinations.

He who does not sow should not reap. ;-)

You need a gallo mas gallo to get rid of them!.
