Disjointed topicsSubmitted by cookshow on 20 July, 2008 - 16:31.
Every posts here gets so disjointed because anyone can post anywhere in the thread. Not only does it make it hard to follow but sometimes impossible to figure out. Signing in while reading a posts puts you in 2nd place of the original post no matter if there are 1 or 100 responses, maybe this can be fixed maybe not. All I can say is that many posts turn into a mess, & unless you are checking the site every 5 minutes it is very confusing. I am no computer geek, but I think someone here is supposed to be, spend some time fixing the site instead of reading the "China News". After a little thought I figured out that maybe that is the goal. Disjoint the original post to make the "source" seem more credible. ( categories: )

You have choices
In "comment viewing options" you get to pick how the comments are ordered for you.
More Buttons to Push
Why not just put them in the order posted? Too complicated? Impossible? Or easier to manipulate responses? Like I said, not too computer savy & after a few years had not figured that out, I am the first to admit I am an Idiot, I guess life is easier this way, your brain must be swollen with all of this crazy mess you post, I will accept the simple life & forever be deemed an idiot.
We offer choices
I actually don't know what the default order is. I know I changed my viewing option some time ago.
I believe the default is threaded by increasing date. This means that if a post is a response to an earlier post (rather than the initial one) it appears indented and below the one it is responding to. Posts responding to the same one appear in cronological order.
That, to many, makes the most sense. But, clearly not for everyone--you included. So, you have the option to change it. Think of it as "immediate democracy". You can get what you want and you don't need to agree with anyone or even vote every 2, 4 or 6 years to get it.
"Democracy"
I will try that, but does it take more than 38% of the members to vote for a change.
I undertand that the indented posts are below & on the side but it is still awkward & a pain in the ass. Put them in order.
Your toys, do as you please. I knew a kid in grade school, he had the football so he made the rules, seems the same.
I guess you are also saying there is no way to fix it.
Just not broken
It works the way it works. The default here is the way thousands of other Drupal sites work. Changing the default would just make us different and thus confusing to some.
Much like you get to have your own bio, your own photo, ..., you get to have your own comment order.
I understand
Lynux is free for a reason. You still have not answered the question, can you fix it?
You set it yourself
You set it yourself by using the options found at the top of the post. Once you pick an save how you want it, it remembers it for you, without having to change the way it works for everyone else. I am set to an expanded flat list, with message appearing in date order, oldest first.
