Auto Parts for ASIA RocstaSubmitted by fyl on 14 July, 2008 - 14:25.
This is a longshot and I encourage people elsewhere in the world to respond as well. We have an ASIA Rocsta AM102 "Jeep". It has been an amazing little car and most parts are easy to obtain as they are pretty standard Mazda parts. But, we have a problem with something that even our mechanic can't find anywhere in Nicaragua. It is a front axle part. (It is 4WD.) The part is the oil for the steering knuckle. Looking at the service manual, it appears it is a set consisting of a seal retainer place, seal, knuckle oil seal and seal packing ring. Any ideas where me might be able to obtain there would be appreciated. ( categories: )

I am more interested with
I am more interested with it's replacement parts, I need to know if there are any discount auto parts available for this jeep. Where can I get more information about it?
Rocsta parts
Never heard of this little engine that could, but since you mentioned it uses "standard Mazda Parts", I could place a call to the local Mazda dealer (I'm in Miami) and give it a shot. I would need the VIN#. Needless to say, that if they have it, I want a free weekend at CoolTop.
Viva Leon Jodido!
Mazda drivetrain
The engine, tranny, ... are Mazda. The stuff we are looking for is not and not even the KIA dealer here (KIA bought ASIA ages ago but they kept the name on the Rocsta) has them.
So, thanks but that won't hack it. They were never imported into the US so it is unlikely parts will appear there. Note that it looks like a Jeep CJ-5. There is a photo of it here.
Parts supplier
Phil ~ although you mentioned that these vehicles were never imported into the US, there may be a possibility that the folks at this supply house can help. For a small Toyota I used to own, every local parts store insisted their listing for universal joints was the only one for my car, but they were always too large. When I contacted Vermeer, they knew exactly what I was talking about, and as their Groveport, Ohio warehouse is 1 1/2 hours from home, I was able to drive there, get exactly what I needed, and get the little fella back on the road. (Wish I still had that car with today's gas prices.)

They don't have an on-line listing, but will accept e-mail inquiries for what you are looking for.
Good luck.
Interesting Facts
As I was searching for more information this is what I found.....
What to look out for when buying a ROCSTA- some common faults..........
Blown head gaskets seems to be the main problem -so check this first.
Blown head gasket white sludge in oil filler cap- white smoke - bubbles in coolant- take rad cap off and look for bubbles after running for a couple of minutes - water leaking out of head
Heater - leaking in cab :- wet carpet/smell driver's side floor well
Steering rack worn :- check for any free play in steering wheel or cracks in box
Radiator fan not working :- will lead to overheating and/ or blown head gasket
U.J.s stuffed :- lots of backlash / freeplay in propshafts - rattling - heavy vibration on start
IF YOU DO BUY........
BUY a grease gun and some grease....
Timing belt, filters x3,coolant and oillshould be changed regularly
Diesels -change oil more frequently-every 3- 4000 miles-dont need expensive oil-midpriced mineral is fine
See Rocsta shop for replacement
Timing belt should be replaced every 60000 miles
The steering rack has a grease nipple that very few people are aware of - this should be greased regularly. I was amazed to see when I bought my Rocsta that the U.J.s/ PROP SHAFTS had been replaced at less than 60,000 miles - again these have grease nipples and MUST be greased every 600 miles . There are also grease nipples on front wheel hubs and on front axle. None of these should stop you neccesarily buying but factor it into price accordingly if not right and ALWAYS test drive vehicle to running temp. and then some! Then check all components. If they won't let you test drive- walk away.....quickly!! A word on grease nipples...if you find grease is pumping out of side of nipple the reservoir is either full - in which case you will see grease coming out of desired area OR nipple is blocked. Take it off and clean in petrol/ paraffin - there is a ball bearing with a spring behind it - GENTLY push ball down and rotate and clean , replace and try again.
The heater is excellent when it it is working but they have a tendency to leak inside the cab out of the connecting pipes from radiator that go through the bulkhead. The temp. then goes up, people ignore it and BANG head gasket blows MORAL dont ignore it and dont rely on coolant level in overflow bottle - check level in rad. but ONLY when cold. If your heater is leaking remove top hose completely and remove bottom hose from bulkhead connection and replace on block where top hose was. You will now be able to drive Roc but will not have a heater, this is a temporary measure ( unless you dont need a heater ! ) If you do buy a Roc think about buying a CD workshop manual- look in ROCSTA SHOP
Think about replacing rubber bushes on shackles ,anti -rolbar etc with Polyurethane Bushes these last 10 times forever and give a better ride -see "ROCSTA SHOP" for details
Pictures relating to above text 1)nipple on steering rack 2) nipple on rear of front wheels x2 3) nipple on prop shaft x2 there are also 1 on each axle and 2 on each UJ

Rocsta Club
fyl, here is a link to a Rocsta Club site and they have a parts page once you join. an interesting fact is that Jeep was licensed to build the Rocsta at one time.
