Post Vigil News (with photos!!!)Submitted by thunderdial on 10 July, 2008 - 22:26.
The vigil was very somber, it was surreal. I've never seen so many Nicas in one place and the place was silent. And not just people from Managua - there was a fellow from Bluefields (there's no excuse FAP!) and even a Muslim family. I made a lot of new friends tonight. I want to thank Father Lacayo for breaking Catholic rank, and blessing the group regardless of their denomination - it's just what we need right now. It was weird to walk around and have people say "Thunderdial?" And likewise it must have been strange for the other 20 or so gringos to be accused of being thunderdial. I also want to thank Dora for attending too - her presence was just the lagniappe needed to help fuse and solidify us as a people. Speaking of tomorrow, we have a long tomorrow ahead of us. I am going to get some sleep, and will pop in tomorrow to give updates when possible. Please pray for us - El Pueblo is counting on it. The stage for the music/speakers was just completed, and people are starting to gather, and we will have several hours before it starts!! I don't know how well the march will go, the streets surrounding the tyrant's house have been barricaded about 100 feet in each direction. For safety, I guess we'll have to limit the march to the barricades.

I can't believe, you Che of
I can't believe, you Che of all people, are making light of such a serious thing as the vigil. Don't worry, you're still my bro, but please try to have a little respect for the people.
i confess....
i was torn. please forgive me. i know it was wrong. i wore the pink out of solidarity for the sandinistas. but, i was there for the people. i knew the risk for being there. but, the biggest apology is for the clothes. i wore them for the ladies...

A White Sport Coat Artist: Marty Robbins
A white sports coat and a pink carnation I'm all dressed up for the dance A white sports coat and a pink carnation I'm all alone in romance
Once you told me long ago To the prom with me you'd go Now you've changed your mind it seems Someone else will hold my dreams
A white sport coat and a pink carnation I'm in a blue blue mood.

O quantum est in rebus inane! / A palabras necias, oídos sordos.
i was in a blue velvet mood
She wore blue velvet Bluer than velvet was the night Softer than satin was the light From the stars
She wore blue velvet Bluer than velvet were her eyes Warmer than May her tender sighs Love was ours
Ours a love I held tightly Feeling the rapture grow Like a flame burning brightly But when she left, gone was the glow of
Blue velvet But in my heart there'll always be Precious and warm, a memory Through the years And I still can see blue velvet Through my tears bobbie vinton
