CANCELLATION: Esteli Town HallSubmitted by thunderdial on 10 July, 2008 - 13:03.
The Esteli Town Hall meeting was canceled at 12:00 today, amid security concerns. Irregular troop movements near Esteli required the organizers to consider the safety of the people, and decided to cancel the event. However, tonight's vigil at Catedral Metropolitana de la Purisima Concepcion (the New Cathedral) in Managua will continue as planned, as private security and the international press will be present. Also, this does not affect the protest and march scheduled for tomorrow, 7/11/2008 at 3:00 PM. ( categories: )

I'm not trying to stir the pot this time
But many of your comments during the recent days smell (Or should I say STINK) of US involvement once again!
For example:” The Esteli Town Hall meeting was canceled at 12:00 today, amid security concerns. Irregular troop movements near Esteli required the organizers to consider the safety of the people, and decided to cancel the event." What kind of BS is that?
Your extreme over reaction to any mention of CIA makes me wonder...
Your comments that anyone that is not in agreement with you is being intimidated and is living in fear...
Here is what I think, and I repeat: "This is MY opinion!!! It is time for the US to BUTT OUT of other countries business!"
Do we need from the US getting involved in Nicaragua AGAIN? (And this is what it looks like to me) " My answer is NO!!!!
As you may be able to sense I am FURIOUS about this "Demonstration and the implication that if I don't believe in the MRS cause I am to be considered a coward and I am living in fear."
Anyone that thinks that can stick it in their hat ear or up any other body part, as far as I am concerned.
In my opinion ANYONE, Nicaraguan American or other nationality that meddles at this point to the extend that they are asking for "Unregistered Cell Phones and are unwilling to name the organizers of a protest" AND are twisting the reality of what is happening do not deserve my support or respect for that matter. If anyone is working for the CIA be4cause they believe in the cause they should admit it.
If the three letters CIA make you worried... well maybe it's because that's who is involved and they should get their butts thrown out of the country!
A new Embassy does not give the US the right to run the country.
The day they pay their LONG overdue debt the US can start afresh and EARN the respect of the world. Until then, don't even talk about how great you are.
Well that's my opinion and it should put me right back on the "shitlist" with most of you. At least I stand up for what I believe in.
attaboy John
I think that's the most worked up I have ever seen you get in a post. Some good points there too.
Serious?
Am I the only person who just thinks these posts are a big joke? I am on the MRS mailing list. None of this has appeared there. And my experience has been that the MRS seriously takes responsibility for what it says and does.
It just helps me feel how the Sandinistas must have felt in the 1980s. Right or wrong, they couldn't win. If they allowed unsubstantiated BS to be published in the press some people believed it. If not, they were all about censorship.
Unfortunately, this thread made it to the Google alerts on Nicaragua so someone "just tuning in" sees this instead of real stuff about Nicaragua.
Mr. T.D.
Mr. T.D., is a person that can write in:
Morse-Code
Binary
BCD (Binary coded Decimal)
Octal
Hexadecimal
Greek and or Latin, and who knows how many other languages.
English (secretly coded)
It's indeed impressive!
In the "other" site, he calls himself "Minister of Disimformation"....He really honors the title.

I think it is VERY real. I
I think it is VERY real. I pass the cathedral on way home from work, and there was many peoplel gathering. Is very unusual for this time of day.
Not a Joke, but
not serious either. Kind of stupid playing with such a serious subject. Cannot think of any good it brings to anyone, but some entertainment. Either way/side, bad for NICA. Hard to believe the post on this.

Fyl, it's quite obvious that
Fyl, it's quite obvious that you're the only person who thinks this is a joke.
No
Some of us with more than an ass for brains think it is a dumb joke...actually not a joke... Kind of Nazi sicko. There now, you have more to write about.

So much for you staying out
So much for you staying out of Nicaraguan politics. Jon, are you accusing me of something besides lending my support to a peaceful protest? If so, spit it out and stop insinuating things. You can back down from everything we agreed upon last summer, but I will continue on - this I promise you.
I know it feels weird to live in a small surfing town and to know the truth but dare snot speak it's name. That's what the movement is all about - to be ale to step a measly two feet out of your door, to look at your neighbor and not exchange the uncomfortable stare of knowing, but extol the smile that is born of love.
Come with me.
WTF
Did we AGREE upon?
And stop making me out as a whimp.
I stand up for what I believe in. Where I live has never influenced me.
This will be my last reply to this nutty thread.
