Pre-Daniel Ortega Dictatorship Protest Vigil

Submitted by thunderdial on 8 July, 2008 - 22:50.

This just in, fine details are sketchy, but the firm points are that a pre-protest vigil will be held this Thursday at 8:00 PM, in the front of Catedral Metropolitana de la Purisima Concepcion in Managua. This will be a non-denominational congregation to pray for the safety of the participants of this Friday's Daniel Ortega Dictatorship Protest. They are asking for candles and for any/all media to attend. I will post updates if/as I get them.

There will also be a Town Hall meeting in Esteli Thursday night that conflicts with the vigil. If you are torn about which to attend, I would recommend the Town Hall meeting, as Dora María Téllez, former "Commandante Dos," will be the featured speaker - she will be speaking about the Friday protest in Managua, for those who cannot attend the protest due to distance and/or other hardships.

worried about the security situation in Esteli I got you covered,Esteli has always been Sandinista and it still is,a vast portion of them are NOT danielistas thou, including those who voted for him, expecting a change, and nothing he promised them has been done, thousands of people I know in Esteli and sorrounding areas are begging to be heard,We Nicaraguans don't give a rat's ass who is in power,as long as they take care of the people, with actions not just words, like the current goverment has done. heck I am even thinking of bringing half the town of Asturias who also want to be heard. See you in Managua Paisano
