Gringos NOT welcome?Submitted by buc10001 on 3 July, 2008 - 23:00.
It seems I insulted a few thin-skinned Nica natives who felt they had to defend their fair ladies and their beautiful country by threatening me. One reply said he'd like to put a few .45 caliber shots to my head for inquiring about marrying for convenience, not True Love.. Another insulted my vocation as an honest farmer. Several natives said Gringos were spoiling their country and their money wasn't needed. Was it really the gringos who polluted the two lakes, Xolotlán and Nicaragua for the last 40 years? You don't need any foreign money to fix that problem? Or to fix your highways and sparatic power system? And was it the communist Sandinistas who raped and/or killed 20,000 of their own people? Was that done out of True Love? And is president Ortega helping his country now? ...or just himself? Ya, keeping the capitalist, polluting gringos out of your country should be a major concern. You see?
Next time just tell them you're Canadian and you can chase tail in peace!

How would you like to hump hump and clean my clothes, ehhhh? Don't worry ehhhh, I'm Canadian!
I was in a difficult spot in a club in the middle east, and I feigned Canadian - and my shipmate outed me!!!
Educated, good, rich, or
Educated, good, rich, or intelligent gringos and gringas are probably welcomed in Esteli. Esteli has a little bit of everything for everyone including doctors and a good climate. In fact the US should have a US embassy branch office there.
Marriage for love is a modern, first world luxury...
and it's good to keep that in mind sometimes. Most of the world still does not marry for love, but for family alliance, economic reasons, conveience ect... Just a thought.
How sad...
Am I the only romantic left on this planet?
For me marriage is ALL about love.
Being romantic is nice and all, but...
it's really just not the reality for so many. My marriage, thank god, is all about love, however, looking at the bigger picture, I know many marriages, even in the US, where clearly economics played a factor, or comfort, or "staying together for the kids" or even simple companionship. My point was not that marriage for love need be tossed out the window, just that it's naive to think that is much more than an ideal and that it's a bit overboard to torture some poor guy on this forum who at least had the guts to be forthright about his goals/ desires.
True Love
"Love" was invented by the poets, like Shakespear, in the 1500's. It sounded better than 'Lust' and sold more of their works. Even today most parents in developing countries arrange marriages for their offspring before their children reach puberty. I've heard that practice is not unknown in smaller towns in Northern Nicaragua. Of course if all single women with 1 or 2 children are considered putas or vaca lecheras, I can see why that is so!
Thank you Che. Thunderdial,
Thank you Che. Thunderdial, I do read very fast, and I have an eidetic memory. If one of the one billion people you presumed would not be welcome here read posts like some of these, do you think they would want to come to the US? The point is, those one billion people are not just one billion people, they are made up of individuals, just as Gringos and Gringas are. Thanks for the advice, I will keep it in mind. I'm a very caring person and only want to get along wherever I go, or if I stay here with my friends. It does seem that nobody wants Americans.
Don't worry
Che and Thunderdial don't like me either, don't worry, you are in good company.
i don't know you
i don't know you and i wouldn't dislike someone bc of thier political beliefs. my dear liberal momma has views very divergent from mine. i still love her. i like fyl bc he is respectful, even though we think differently. as my dear liberal momma said, "it's not right or wrong, just different." and don't mind thunderdial, he's just kidding bc he can. i suspect he is equally considerate of people. i suspect he doesn't like people claiming victim status.

Gringos NOT welcome
I am a US citizen who was thinking of retiring to a Hispanic country for several reasons, chiefly because I would love to be fluent in Spanish, and I think living in a country such as Nicaragua is probably the best way to do it. I don't pretend to be rich and bringing money into your country. What I wanted was to meet some people and be sociable and live a normal life. Thanks to the comments I've read here, I don't think I would be welcome, so I will go elsewhere. I'm sure you're glad to hear that, Che. I would not presume to tell a person from ANY country that they are not welcome in the US, much less group them and assume they are all the same. But then, I'm just an average person. BTW, in some of these posts, the spelling is atrocious.
Wow, you sure read a lot in
Wow, you sure read a lot in 1 1/2 hours!!! I would presume, actually, off the top of my head, I can think of about 1 billion people who are not welcome in the US! Nicaragua, as you can tell, is an acquired taste. If you want to be fluent in Spanish, Nicaragua's the worst place to go. Try Colombia or Spain - better weather too, IMHO.
what?
what makes you think i am happy that you are not moving to nica? you must be confusing something i said when responding to someone who threatened me. i want you to go where you will be happy. people are the same all over the world, good ones and bad ones.....

LAND THIEVING, CRADLE ROBBING, POTHEAD GRINGOS NOT WELCOME
Here we go again! Many of us Nicas do not want a gringo invasion because what they bring is speculative destruction.
What is the only growth industry in the USA as of now? SPECULATION: speculation in food, oil, and other commodities.
Why is the economy in the USA tanking?: speculation.
We already see this speculation in San Juan Del Sur. Speculation that has ruined the city. These gringo land thieves if unchecked, will cause a real estate bubble like they did in the USA.
We are seeing the results in Nicaragua with the inflated prices. Unlike the USA, however the people will not remain quiet.
As for Buc, what he essentially wants is a concubine, a puta.
He needs to be careful as several old gringo and canadian codgers have been literally butchered and quartered by their nicoya teenage lovers.....(in one case, a young gringo was almost hacked to death by a machete after impregnating an underage nica girl)
oh and I forgot to add that cochones are also not welcome by most Nicas.
Well, I'll agree with you on
Well, I'll at least agree with you on real estate. Just take a look at Pelican Eyes - 500k plus an association?!?!?! Get real. But I wouldn't blame it all on the gringos. Nicaraguans demand higher prices from gringos, so who is really to blame? Both times I bought real estate in Nicaragua, I asked first, and then sent in my wife a week or so later, and let's just say the difference in price difference wasn't just a paltry percentage, but an order of magnitude.
can
can i send your wife in?

You, Che, are the only man I
You, Che, are the only man I would trust with my wife!
well thanks!
and i would trust you with mine. mine has no interest in men, including me....hahaha

speculation
speculation occurs bc investors know the libs in congress will not let usa oil companies drill on the continental shelf and alaska. usa is shooting itself in the foot.

Now this is a good synaptic pause
Reading this thread puts me in a good mood-sounds like a SCTV skit
It's the end of the world
Tell me with the rapture and the reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.
It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

There is nothing like a good revolution
It's a good thing today is July 4.
Far be it for me to interrupt a good fight, but there are both good and bad example of "marriages of convenience"
1. (Good) The Window who cannot afford to feed her family after her husband dies. She finds a sympathetic soul who is willing to help.
2. (Bad) Emotionally stunted couple who are looking out only for what they can get, and really don't care about the other person.
This type of arrangement is NOT what I want. I want a traditional marriage. I do not know which this guy is after, but in my opinion it does not affect any of us, so is it really our business?
1st Capt. Ron (Title by Miskito Alan)
Don't worry about Daniel
Don't worry about Daniel Ortega, it's very near the end of his term. The youngsters are angry because their act of revolution against their parents was designed by a conman. They lash out at you because they can't lash out at him. It's going to sting for a little bit, but they'll get over it.
Like another poster said here, they are just internet bullies - it is rare you find someone like that in person.
Stay Out
Nicaragua is not a place for you.
One of the first things you do is to insult and/or slander its government "Was it the communist Sandinista who raped or killed 20,000 of their own people?", then, you take it against the president himself "And is president Ortega helping his country now?..or just himself?"
Some of the people who have encouraged you to come to Nica, are nothing but pimps.
Costa Rica is a better and safer place for you... If the Ticos take you.
Al
And calling people names,
And calling people names, people you do not know in many cases, sets you above the rest? I'd like to know how you came to the gross generalization that we are all pimps.
Oh and BTW, WTF are you doing in my country? Raping it for it's riches, only to retire to Nicaragua where the cost of living is low?
It's funny how everyone has all these anti-American sentiments, yet each and every one of you suck at its tit.

Read
I said "Some of the people...." If you are part of the "some" and if the glove fits, wear it.
As for what am i doing in your country? I'm a U.S. Armed forces Viet-Nam era veteran, and you, What have you done for your country?
Al
Well, for starters, I don't
Well, for starters, I don't pass judgment on lonely farmers, and I currently serve - so you can put your Vietnam get-out-of-any-uncomfortable-situation-card away. Godoy's son served too, if you wanna call it that. So when are you going to high-tail it down to the motherland with your Benjamins? I wonder if you'll be the ugly American then?

Solve tha dilema
Just Married a white blue eyed gringa in the U.S. and take her to Nic with you. No? That way you avoid all of these controverse, you dont have to marry her fam,you dont have to hang out with Nica sleaz, and you will never have to shave and shower.Just dont let your gringa get a taste of the Nic bamboo, cause you will be back to square one.HA.
NOT WELCOME
Buc: As a Nica once told me " REMEMBER IN NICARAGUA HATE RUNS DEEP" And this is true, but there is also alot of love in Nicaragua And remember there will alwas be racist people who hate you for where you were born or because of the colour of your skin or your relegious belives. Also has for these "BLOGGER TUFF GUYS" they are the same as a telephone tuff guys they are real bad guys at the other end of a computer or the other end of a phone, but face to face they will say nothing to you its the only power they have. Pay no mind to this type of person, dont deal in hate. Also if you would like to meet some nice Christian,Catholic in the managua area please email me have a nice day.
Tuff guys
Hobo; thanx for your support. But I think most of the anti-American, pro-Commies on this Board know by now that I'm pretty much immune to their insults. But their angry remarks are somewhat informative and useful. I believe I'll stir up their nest with a few more irritating Posts. Thanks.
HUH???????
What ever gives you the intelligence to assume that someone who is critical of Americans (and/or their policies) is also a "pro-Commie"? Get real will you! No wonder you are stirring up a lot of negative flack against you.
Read Che's Bio
It clearly states he is a communist and wants to live in a communist country, unless his bio is a lie.
Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres -Spanish proverb
Oh boy...
Pro-Commie, Red baiting, Pinko, Agent Provocateur, I haven't laughed so much since Gene McCarthy and 'Tricky' Dick Nixon were running HUAC,

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate
In my opinion
you have shown your imperialistic attitude beginning with your very first post.
Why don't you stand on Main Street North Carolina and shout: “What woman here wants to f**k?" followed by: “I’ll pay you well!". See how far you get with that.
Is it any wonder that some folks here are upset with you? To top is all off, you make another post saying that Nicaragua should kiss up to you more than they do, since you are the one bringing money into the country.
Jim Buc, why are you moving here? Is it because of the pretty girls? Is it because of the lower cost of living? Is it because of the weather? Because you have worn out your welcome where you live now?
Whatever the reason, surely it is not because Nicaragua begged you to move here. So suck it up and take Nicaragua the way it is and try to fit in without throwing you ever devaluating dollars in everyone’s face. However much you can bring with you it surely won't clean up the lakes or build new roads. Most likely that money will be spent on other items that benefit you.
Nicaraguans are a proud people and yes, not ALL visitors are welcome!
PS: Unless I missed it, I could not find one post that made fun of, or insulted the profession of farming. It is one particular farmer who's motives are suspect.
You know what Buc...
Most Nicaraguans you meet will be humble, nice people and will be happy to know you and share their country with you, so don't be discouraged by ridiculous commentary by bitter people. They should get a life. You go buy a farm and find you a wife!
i read
i read somewhere that you hated it here. oh, and you like obituaries....
when government grows, liberty yields, thomas jefferson
and what is your point, Che?
or are you just trying to provoke me as always, like a thorn in my side? And I like obituaries? I think you are referring to something you may have dreamed about, but not me, although there are some obituaries I personally would revel in reading.
is it just me?
you posted a whole thread to how you hated it here, no? then you post the thread above, "Most Nicaraguans you meet will be humble, nice people and will be happy to know you and share their country with you, so don't be discouraged by ridiculous commentary by bitter people. They should get a life. You go buy a farm and find you a wife!" so which is it? bc that "i hate it here" thread sounded like you were bitter. heck, i thought you were leaving? do you run hot and cold? can you understand my confusion?
the part i really liked was how you claimed how liberal you were...are you down for the struggle? why beat up realtors?
when government grows, liberty yields, thomas jefferson
why do you care about how I feel?
Firstly, you must be mistaken, I never wrote an "I hate it here thread", that was someone else....I do understand your confusion...here is the thread you refer to: http://www.nicaliving.com/node/10608
I have however, written many times about my experiences in Nicaragua, both good and bad, and my dissatisfaction at times. Given some of my experiences, I think I have the right to feel how I felt at times, but since I am much, much younger than you, I am probably much more resilient and flexible in the face of diversity. I doubt I am the only one who has bad experiences in Nicaragua...Isn't the whole country suffering right now? Btw, I have received many a private message thanking me for my truthful insight and frankness, begging me to write more, after all, I do not sugar coat my experiences, and I tell it like it is. Alot of people want that. I am not sure what your intent on this board is, but I really can't find much valuable or useful input you have posted that would help "English-speaking people who have or will move" here. Can you direct me to some useful input you have posted? My posts, for the most part, are meant to be informative, although I am sometimes thrown off track by posts such as yours. Your posts do not seem to meet that same criteria of usefulness, in fact they seem to be just plain provacative. Take this one for example. What value does it have to the other members? Are you just trying to provoke me or make me out to be some kind of idiot? I think you are. Yes, I am a liberal, not on all issues, and yes, I am down for the struggle. So...? Is that important to you? I was involved with the PLC campaign, so yes, I am willing to fight. That is one of the reasons I decided to stay. Is that ok with you or should I leave now?
As far as Realtors go, let's be clear...they are not Realtors if they work here, in the first place, so please, make proper references. I happen to be a Realtor and have been for 14 years, however, I do not practice in Nicaragua. Therefore, I have nothing against Realtors per say. I do not like people who rip-off Nicaraguans for their land by offering to buy it for a song and then turn around and sell it for a huge profit. This is a travesty for native Nicaraguans, do you not see that? What Nicaraguan can afford to buy land for the prices those shysters are charging?
And yes, I have changed my mind from time to time. Am I allowed sire? Do I have your permission? Why don't we go out for a beer and talk things out? Are you willing? We can invite other NL members and make it a big NICALIVING talkfest. I would enjoy meeting you, after all, you seem to know so much about me. I would love to get to know you better. What can you share with us on this site about yourself in the meantime, other than the fact that you love to quote pop songs and are a self proclaimed communist, according to your profile, which by the way, is quite impressive.
thanks
for setting me straight. i did make one mistake. i confused you for ihateithere. maybe it was this post by you on that thread, "B) I stayed in Nicaragua for 2 years and left last year for financial reasons. I was a little bitter but have gotten over it."
i bought my little piece of nicaragua from erwin gonzales. i suspect a very wealthy man. (ask nicareal, who btw has earned my trust.) one of his sons went to harvard. where do you get off calling nicaraguans naive?
me provacative? "in fact they seem to be just plain provacative." like this pm from you to me, "From: will305 To: Che Guevara Subject: Hey Date: 25 June, 2008 - 20:16
If you make another derogatory personal remark about me in public, it will be your last. Trust me on that. Try me if you think I am f***ing around."
nb, one word cleaned up. that pm to me sounded rather provacative?
when government grows, liberty yields, thomas jefferson
You continue to provoke me
and I love it. Apparently I hit a nerve. You forgot to mention to everyone who cares, that you whined and tattled like a little girl to the admin about that and had him hop all over me. You couldn't handle the confrontation yourself. You told me you were going to forward it to the FBI...ridiculous.
The reason, btw, for the pm was for the same reason I stated in my post. You love to harrass and post things to provoke me, but is it you that ends up looking stupid.
I guess that menas we can't meet in person? Awwww
