Elimination of recent comments section

A few days ago I added currency exchange rates to the bottom of the left column. We had previously had this but the module I used did not document where the information came from which was a requirement. I wrote the code to do this new block in the required fashion.

When I made the change I removed the "Recent Comments" section because the left column was getting very long. I received a complaint about the removal. I had, however, received complaints that it was effectively redundant. That is, going to http://www.nicaliving.com/tracker offers up the same information (and more).

Let me know what you think.

I agree with geobear—I never use any of the links in the left column as the recent posts menu item or tracker show what I want but, in any case, it is back.

Fine with me. Since I discovered the fabulous "Recent Posts" page (accessible from the link in your announcement or from the right-hand column), I haven't used anything in the left column anyway. For that matter, I'd be ok with also getting rid of the New Forum Topics, Active Forum Topics, and Recent Blog Posts, and moving a few more modules from the right column over to the left.

But that's just my opinion. I'm sure there are other people who like and use the left column. To each his own.

There are few enough straight shooters. We can use all that we can get. Even if they are of the "other" political persuasion.
