Attitudes About Marriage and Having Children

In my 50+ years in the U.S., I found that there seemed to be three popular attitudes about having children:
  1. Oops, I'm pregnant. I guess we better get married.
  2. After we are married, if we are getting along ok, have sufficient income, ... then we should have children.
  3. Our relationship is not wonderful anymore. Let's have a child and see if it fixes it.
My opinion is that only #2 is healthy but, whatever. And note that "living together" can be substituted for married, depending of course on local norms. During my time here in Nicaragua I have seen #1 and #3 on occasion but never seen #2. Instead, by far the most popular attitude seems to be something totally different. To me, it feels unhealthy and, well, it looks like it creates a serious problem. Here goes.
Well, I don't know what will happen with this guy but I want to have a baby now. That way, if we don't get along, he runs away or dies, at least I have the child.
