Walmart Garden Center Seeds in Nicaragua?Submitted by mjt on 21 May, 2008 - 23:37.
I am just curious if anyone can confirm (or deny) that any Walmart-related outfit in Nicaragua sells seed packets branded, "Walmart Garden Center" (the basic playing-card size paper envelope)? ( categories: )

Seeds
I have not seen the WalMart seeds & I am always on the look-out. The only brand I have found is l'ortolano, packaged in Italy. I have found them in Sinsa, Lugo, & Agro-Centro, usually not much of a selection.
Truckload
Seeds are extremely difficult to find in Honduras. I have never figured out why, exactly. We usually mail them in. Often, here you need to buy from some shop that buys them by 100-lb containers and divides it up. I asked about Walmart mostly because some guy near my family in Southern Honduras was yet again arrested with his buildings full of "stolen property". This time around the goods included a truckload full of Walmart's seed packets. Actually, truckload is an understatement; there are more than 110 moving size boxes or cases of seed envelopes. He claimed he bought them in Nicaragua and lost the receipt; as his explanations go over the years, this one isn't even in the top ten. I didn't believe him but then got to thinking: I wonder, where did he really get so many U.S. seeds? I doubted they were in any Walmart-connected store in Nicaragua, since not even the Hyper Paiz or Do-It Centers here sell seeds, but I thought I would ask. I would like to know why seeds are so hard to find here, but have never found a believable answer - yet.
