Wind Power

Today, Scottish and Southern (a UK power company) announced the awarding of a contract for construction of a 500 megawatt wind power generation system off the UK coast. This is a big time wind plant...enough to become a major full time source, not just a peak load contributor.

The cost...which out of reach for NICA...is relatively modest. And no pollution at all, if the siting is done with some thought to avoid "sight pollution".

Something this size would light all the homes in Managua.
