Importing Cars, Trucks , MotorcyclesSubmitted by hobo on 9 May, 2008 - 19:05.
I have been told that to bring a car into Nicaragua it has to be fairly new. Does anyone know what year they have to be? Also is it the same with a motorcycle? I was also told that you could import any year truck you wanted because a truck is considered a work vehicle. One last question, what about antique cars is there a year when they are considered antique and they would be permitted to be imported? Any information would be helpful.

Importing a car
The car can't be older than 7 years from date of manufacture and with a value of under $25,000.
Importing motorcycles: I've asked the question(via e-mail) to several Nica. authorities and i didn't get any answers.
You can ask the questions to:
ccenter2@cancilleria.gob.ni
Direccion General de Aduanas (Customs)
www.dga.gob.ni
www.dga.gob.ni/servicios01.cfm
To find your vehicle's tax assessment:

Good Luck,

unless you
are a Nicaraguan who has Never introduced a vehicle into the country, that 7 year old is thrown out the window, you can introduce a 35 Willis if you like :-)

I do
and fit the description, I'm importing a vehicle under ley 535 and never imported before, well once under Somoza.
And since this person doesn't state otherwise, i'm assuming that he has never imported into Nica.
That's why I added the links to the Nica Cancilleria and Aduanas.

Al
Thank you
we have a 05 caddy, a79 caddy. a 79 cj5 but we still are not sure what we will bring. our son and his family will be there full time by sept. I also have a harley we talked about bringing but the roads on a bike scare me a lil.
do not call it an antique
if you point out that it is an antique, you may get fleeced....
dont know what kind of cars you have, but assuming you have a 1966 mustang, I would put Ford Carro viejo 1966 ;-)
last time I checked any vehicle from before 1997 did not have to pay duty. This may very well have changed, so call your nearest nica consulate.
