Need to get an extension on my tourist visa. Is it possible to have this done at the immigration office at the MetroCenter?

Visa Extensions

There is also an immigration office in Granada. It's one block north of the Police station. Arrive with your passport and a copy of the front page containing your photo and info and a copy of the page with your visa stamp from your entry date. Extensions can be purchased in 30 day increments at a cost of 214 cords. You can only extend your visa for the original amount of days you were given on your original visa. For most USA citz this is normally 90 days. There is also a 50 cord handling charge. They will give you a receipt and you return in 5 days and pick up your passport with the new extension. If you have overstayed your original visa you will be fined 20 cords for each day you have overstayed and given 10 days to leave the country. If you have overstayed your visa and head to the airport you can pay the fine there but only in cords. Immigration at the airport will not accept dollars. Not to beat a dead horse, but your original visa is for 90 days......not 3 months. The date of entry counts as day one. Pura Nica, Bobby

Other offices

What Bobby has said for Granada applies to all the other regional offices. The list is on the Immigration web site (see the Links page here).

I have never tried to pay anything in Immigration in dolars but, as far as I know, you can only pay in cordobas in any office.
