Yoga in Nicaragua
For yoga in Nicaragua, you need to visit www.nicayoga.com Nica Yoga is located in the community of El Camino del Sol in San Juan del Sur. They offer donation classes many days per week. They have fantastic in house instructors and guest instructors that rotate throughout the year. Staying there and taking yoga with Tara was one of the best parts of our trip. Enjoy your visit. Danny
Yoga space on Ometepe
in progress. I'm building a house in Merida (Maderas island) that will have a large open second floor (with a roof) that can be used as a yoga shala. I'm not a yoga teacher but have been a serious (well, kinda) practitioner for the past five or six years and would love to lead/follow/participate in yoga practices with other practitioners of all levels when I'm on la isla. When I'm not, the space will be available for rent for small yoga retreats and etc. Hopefully ready to go within the next six months, maybe sooner!
Heart of Om Yoga at Morgan's Rock in Nicaragua (travelvideo)
May 06, 08 | 6:45 pm OCOTAL BEACH, NICARAGUA—Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge, one of Latin America’s leading agro-tourism operations located south of Granada, the oldest city in the Americas, welcomes OM Yoga program.
he Morgan’s Rock Hacienda is designed for travelers in search of luxury combined with the excitement of Nicaragua, the new Central American venue. A pristine beach and a unique 4500 acre protected primary dry forest environment surround the resort and provide the setting for the Yoga experience. The secluded beach is the location of a newly designed Yoga studio where students can learn self-awareness, physical strength, confidence, compassion and self discipline against the background sounds of the waves and wildlife while contemplating the crashing surf.
Noted Yoga instructor Brian Liem of the OM Yoga Center in New York City will offer a special “The Heart of OM” starting on May 24 for 6 nights. Two daily classes will offer mornings of active and invigorating sessions of sun salutations plus hip and heart openers; evening sessions will be quieter sessions focusing on restorative and mindfulness meditation practices. This program will include transfers from Managua, all meals, the 2 daily classes, a massage, local tours, a boat trip and a special dinner for $2925 (single) and $2685 per person (double). Taxes & service are included in packages. See www.bigworldsmallplanet.com/retreats/retreat_om.html

Granada, the oldest city in the Americas???
From the BBC, Caral, on the slopes of the Andes in Peru, was built between 2,600 BC and 2,000 BC. It is the oldest city in the Americas, but has not been occupied for the past couple thousand years, give or take a few centuries.
From FunTrivia.com, "Mexico City is probably the oldest city in North America, as a continuation of the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlán, founded in about 1325."
I think they might be trying
I think they might be trying to claim oldest European city in the Americas but I dont think its even the oldest city in Nicaragua. Realejo outside of Corinto sacked by Sir Francis Drake is older if I'm not mistaken.
Nice price point
Gee, if that's what this costs "at the beach", I wonder what we can do "in the mountains" for people that have an extra $3k/week.
I'd hurry up and get it done
You may not have yoga at your place but this give an idea of the kind of bucks people are willing to pay for something special in a special place. Nothing bad about them...they are typically the ones who just can't do it on their own and want to go someplace not overcrowded and a bit "adventurous" With a bit of the right idea and some promotion, you can do the same thing I am sure. Just don't turn into a capitalist mogul on us.ATZ
Special dinner!
"This program will include transfers from Managua, all meals, the 2 daily classes, a massage, local tours, a boat trip and a special dinner for $2925" Yes, for $2,925.00 I would certainly hope that the dinner included in the package would be "special." (Not to mention the massage!) :-)
