Getting a Cedula?

Submitted by Kendra Brown on 11 April, 2008 - 14:58.

I will be in Nicaragua in a few weeks, helping a friend with paperwork for his Cedula. I am looking for information about where to go in Managua to complete the paper work properly. I have heard that you can get a Cedula in a few days. I find this hard to believe unless you can pay more to speed up the process. If you have any advice or information about the Cedula process please respond. Many Thanks!

getting docs authenticated at Nicaraguan Consulate.

With regard to Canadian documents, where does one go to get the docs authenticated? Can I bring the docs with me and have them authenticated here?

Info on Cedula

This will help you in the process of getting a cedula but rest assured that even if you pay to speed up the process, you're looking at 5 to 6 months. It may help if you say you or friend wish to vote for Sandias in the upcoming November elections and you just may get it in time. If you ever been to NICA, you'll know that government workers aren't as dedicated to their jobs and prefer to gossip, read papers, file their nails, drink frescos, etc. instead of being productive members in their offices.

a few days

You have been very misinformed if you think you are going to get a cedula in a few days. I would give yourself at least 5 months. once you have your criminal record notarized by the state police and sent to you you will need to send it to the state attorney general and have him stamp it. once you get it back you will have to send it to the Nicaragua consulate to have it stamped. This is one document and there are going to be several.

The Answer

The answers are right here. There are separate sections for nacionales and extranjeros. Besides the general instructions, the site has all the internal procedural documents available.

Thank you...

I will look it over. Thank you for the quick reply.
