Indoor Bathrooms?Submitted by fyl on 3 April, 2008 - 17:05.
![]() In http://www.nicaliving.com/node/11840 the concept of an "indoor bathroom" came up. Or, more specifically, why. Well, the post got me thinking. The attached house drawing (from Monolithic's Dome Living book) is one that I have been looking at for quite a while. Every time I look at it, I see this useless bathroom located with its door in the middle of the kitchen. I was going to re-draw it with the door moved. But, removing the whole bathroom (and washing machine space) makes so much more sense. By moving the bathroom to outside, an indoor dining area (bar or small table) can be added where the toilet wall was. It might also make sense to either move the front door or add a second outside door next to the refrigerator. I am leaning toward move. Then, build a deck that goes outside the LR area and continues to part of the kitchen. It could be covered and connect "the house" with the "bathhouse" which could be a 10 foot dome. ( categories: )

Round houses
...are such a grand idea. I have planned to build that way ever since I saw a resort in the BVI done with them. There, the small guest houses were on 'stilts' with all the mechanicals in a central pillar and thus easily accessible...and the ground was made a patio in a stone of some sort, with hammocks strung between the stilts...nice shady extra living space.
Women!
So, I start telling Ana about my "brilliant idea". She says, "Wrong! We are going to have two bathrooms, one as part of our bedroom suite." Or, well, however you say that in Nicaraguan.
So, I now have to decide to ignore her, divorce her or humor her. :-)
YES !
That is exactly what I was getting at! Do you really want the $hi**er right next to the kitchen ??? eewwww. And why not locate the washer closer to where you are going to use the grey water ? It for sure does not need to be in the main house. These plans were drawn with the mindset that there would be inclement (too hot/too cold) weather for a large part of the year. It will be fun to see all the plans people come up with ! Heck, put the kitchen outside ! We did! Why heat up the house ?
but, but...
