also called annato, bixa orellana, used in many Mayan based dishes that our caretaker Cessario's wife makes.

He was off helping a friend harvest these and returned very 'red' handed as this is used to make food coloring and dye also.

Such as the Nahoas,used them to paint their faces as well.
