Hostages freed in Guatemala

Submitted by Doug on 17 March, 2008 - 11:25.

It seems the four Belgians and their guides were taken hostage by a group of landless peasants trying to gain the freedom of their leader. The article at Reuters goes on to outline some of the issues, many of them will sound quite familiar to us here.

**** CAUTION Personal Opinion Follows****

Now I am wondering if these hostage takers were emboldened by the presence of one of our members at a rally in Guatemala City only one day before. Such reckless behavior does indeed exemplify the wanton brutality of the Left. And what will become of our peaceful adopted home if this madman is allowed to retire here as his proclamations have stated ? We have to think of the children, is this the type of role model they need ? Next we will be seeing his likeness on teeshirts, who nows where this lunacy will lead.

Great literary irony!

Great literary irony, but I'm not certain that everyone will "get" it. Just in case, maybe you need to post an "Irony Alert" first. :-)

Limited internet access in Guatemala

It took me a while to connect the dots, but using both inductive and deductive thought and a little boolean algebra, now I think I can see a corrolation among the factors of limited internet in G-land, the documented appearance, and a decrease in posts. Thankfully no one was hurt in the process!
