Venezula Adding Spin to Colombia/Ecuador Fiasco

Many sources are reporting "concern" for Venezuela's involvement with FARC. One such article from eluniversal is relatively typical of how Hugo supplies arms to the FARC.

http://english.eluniversal.com/2008/01/21/en_pol_art_colombian-intellige...

Poor old Hugo is being picked on again by the big bad US and Colombia for calling a a sweet group of murdering drug runners "brothers".

I guess if you don't take into account what is on the computers because right now we don't know, and well we all know the US will just make up files and lie anyway, right?. If you don't into account the FARC members caught with Venezuela's army weapons and ammo. If we don't look at the fact that the FARC crosses the borders with Venezuela and Ecuador easy and are welcomed. If we don't look at the fact that the camp Colombia attacked was not just a clearing with sleeping bags but a fully functional camp with electricity and other amenities. If we don't look at the support Daniel and Hugo show in the international community for their "brothers", like not calling them terrorists. If we don't look at the well documented trail of cocaine that the FARC transports through Venezuela to Europe. If we don't look at the fact Hugo was willing to sacrifice hundreds or thousands of his own men to go to war with Colombia over the killing of one drug runner.....

Well if we don't count these small things then yes the other forum topic "US Adding Spin to Colombia/Ecuador Fiasco" would make the point that the US is only country sticking it nose into others affairs.

In reality the US should have a better friendship with neighbors south of the border but Bush has made that very hard to do with his policies but this in no way makes a mad man like Hugo right in supporting a group of terrorists that kill innocent people, spread terror by planting landmines, attach bombs on the bodies of kidnapped people to collect ransom money, chain people like dogs for years, cut a woman's body open in the jungle instead of getting medical care for her when she was having a baby of one of these FARC animals, hunt down and kill anyone that leaves the "business" and of course run drugs so we can all like in a better socialist world(???) what ever the hell that is suppose to accomplish.

There is always two sides to a story I guess.

More Spin

This time, in NicaLiving. The following is from the cited article:
The FARC's use of Venezuelan-made ammunition was reported by more than 10 of the some 95 guerrilla members who defected in Colombia, the officers added.

The only factory in South America that makes the 7.62x39 ammunition for AK-47 assault rifles is the Venezuelan state-run Compañía Anónima Venezolana de Industrias Militares (Cavim).

So, FARC has AK-47s—just like Ollie North bought for the Contras from China. No surprise as virtually everyone has AK-47s here. The ammunition for the AK-47s came from the only factory in South America that makes it. Again, no surprise.

What's missing is how FARC got it. The spin here is that it much be Chavez (and maybe it is) but they might just be buying it at Walmart or whatever.

With the amount of money the U.S. government spends on spying in the world (to put it nicely), I would expect to do better than "Chavez had been talking to FARC" and "FARC uses Venezuelan-made bullets". There are still people who don't believe the U.S. government was importing cocaine to pay for the Contras but those same people seem to be able to know without a shadow of a doubt that Chavez is arming FARC. Wow!

So lets say it is not Chavez

So lets say it is not Chavez arming the drug runners, it is still arms from his country and he is the president. So if arms from the US was ending up in a anti-Chavez group you would be screaming and yelling Bush and the US government is responsible, or no?

No

The U.S. sells it arms to a lot of nasty governments but when the U.S. is donating arms, it gets them from somewhere else. Remember, Ollie North bought AK-47s from China for his Contras.
