Collaborative Opportunities for Non Profits in Nicaragua

Submitted by katica500 on 12 March, 2008 - 19:48.

Friends, please spread the word. I have created a forum so Nicaragua NGO's can share and connect. It is my belief that we can be very powerful if we can find ways to work together as organizations and well as share information as we learn and grow.

Bridges to Community

My introduction to Nicaragua came in 2004 through a non-profit called Bridges to Community. Based in Ossining, New York (just north of NYC) the organization started out with house-building trips to poor barrios in the Masaya area and have expanded to many other areas such as medical, educational, economic aid. They have a local staff which includes many Nicaraguans, and work closely with local community organizations to ensure that Nicaraguan abilities and self-sustaining projects are being created, not just "drop in" charity. If you'd like to learn more check out their website at www.bridgestocommunity.org.
